Remarks

I applied to various NITs through JOSAA and I even applied to VIT, Thapar. I surveyed and finally got selected for NIT Srinagar and Thapar in regard to the branch I wanted to opt for. Finally, I preferred NIT Srinagar because of the compatible fee structure and since it is a government college. I availed home state quota. The selection was completely on the basis of JEE mains marks and board exam marks. I was having a rank of 48,017 so I got selected for it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I opted for Mechanical Engineering at NIT Srinagar. I asked around some of the seniors who were in NIT Srinagar, they recommended me to join this course. Most of the faculties were either from top NITs or IITs i.e., very experienced faculties. Teaching method was good but ultimately you had to study yourself. The examination level was moderate and can be passed.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internships are usually earned at the student end only. Most of the internships were unpaid but I did pay internship at Vedantu with 25K stipend. I did internship at Seimens, IOCL. I did projects related to automobile manufacturing, autocad, ansys, CNC, Content writer, etc. I also got traned in regard to the crude oil generation at IOCL.

Placement Experience

3

Placements of NIT Srinagar depend on a branch to branch. The placements of CSE and IT branches are too good but if we talk about the placements of other core branches like mechanical, electrical, etc are not too good. But there are average. Like 17 students were placed out of 58 students in the mechanical branch. Companies visited were BYJUS, TATA, L&T, Angloeastern, etc. From the 7th semester, college placements get started. The highest package for the 2020 batch was 20 LPA and the average package was 8 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure was affordable and there were some policies regarding scholarship like income brackets, category-wise fee structure, etc. I got a job at BYJUS with a CTC of 8 LPA. Apart from this, there were scholarships for the minorities or state scholarships that were also considered.

Campus Life

3.5

Life at NIT Srinagar wasn't so social. But there were some events like Techfest conducted in 2019 which was one of the largest J&K's tech cultural event. Apart from this, various workshops are conducted and events. Sports are conducted like InterNIT sports and we can also participate in varous sports competitions.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel rooms are overall good as there are some new hostels which are built and students are given a chance to live in each hostel. The registration process is very easy and also the hostels and mess facility are quite affordable. There is a mess team which reviews the food on weekly basis and also on holidays, the menu is shifted to a special menu.
