Remarks

I chose to attend this college as it was an off campus Delhi University college and I thought it would be the best choice for me. While I enjoyed my college experience immensely, I do regret the fact that it was an all girls college and by default, it excluded us from a lot of activities such as MUN and Debate Club. Our Student Union was extremely organized and nice to everyone, especially the new incoming students. Not only the students, but even the staff at the college was extremely friendly throughout my three years of studying there. The only downside I can mention besides the fact that it was an all girls college is the hygiene, which wasn't always the best. Towards the end, a lot of things changed in the college, and hygiene was better taken care of.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose to do Philosophy Honours because I had always had an extreme interest in the subject. I was also aware that our college had a lot of esteemed faculty, including a teacher who had written the book for our curriculum. We were extremely balanced out in terms of faculty to student ratio where we hardly ever had more than 25 students per teacher, except for when we had common classes such as AECC English. The teachers were all extremely qualified, with many holding a PhD and other teachers in the midst of attaining one. The term exams were not extremely difficult, and this may have been because we were taught extremely well by our teachers.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

I am not aware of the internship opportunities offered by my college, but I know that there were several. I chose to apply for internships using Internshala. However, even teachers would inform the students of potential opportunities that they could pursue during vacations and they would help students throughout the process.

Placement Experience

3.5

We had an Equal Opportunity Cell in our college that aimed to get students recruited after graduation. Not only that, companies also came to our college in order to recruit freshers. I am not aware of the exact package students were offered but a student in the Commerce dept had secured a 7 lakh per annum package from E&Y during my time there. Many students did not opt for placements as they wanted to pursue higher education. I also did not take part in the recruitment drive as I had plans to pursue UPSC coaching after graduation

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees at any public university are not significant, and it was the same for our college. The fees increase year by year, but not significantly and so there was no such burden. I was informed that our college did offer several stipends for students who were unable to pay.

Campus Life

4

Life at the campus was great. The student body at my college was extremely welcoming and cheerful. Everyone sought to help out others and there was a strong feeling of 'sisterhood' at my college. We had one annual college fest each year, which was organized by all departments and the Student Union. This was a big fest and we had many students from other colleges attending as well. The library is well stocked with informational and course relevant books and had an online system to search and locate books. We had two librarians at all times who were very helpful and even suggested books at times to the students. There were a lot of clubs in our college such as the Dance team, Cleanliness club, Gardening club etc.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
