What Students Say
Likes
- Society culture like Western Music Society, Film and Photography society, students take up initiative there. College is pretty small and accessible by metro. Infrastructure is really good. Gardens are great and it is green
- Holds many events, for almost all departments and societies. Fest is pretty great too
- Library is good. Lots of books and publications are available. There is a Library fest as well. Computers are accessible all the time.
Dislikes
- Apolitical, dissent from student community is not encouraged.
- Lack of classrooms to accommodate all years and courses. Randomness in B.A Program department.
- Lack of places and rooms for societies to practice. Reception staff is very rude. It takes a long process to book a room for a society.
Course Curriculum Overview
B.A Program with Economics as a major does require a maths background even though it isn't required in the eligibility criteria. It was a bit difficult to get through the maths papers but the teachers were really supportive.
Internships Opportunities
There's companies like - S&P Capital IQ Fluor Daniel Genpact Aon Hewitt Concentrix ICICI Prudential Deccan AI The stipend depends on the role. For internships it starts from 3000 to anywhere around 20000
Placement Experience
Internship opportunities are provided all year round by Career Opportunity Cell for students of all years. For Jobs, usually 3rd year students are eligible. While internships are for varied fields, jobs usually come in for Bcom students, but more opportunities are there during placement season for all courses. Placement season is usually around end of 3rd year.
Fees and Financial Aid
1st year fee 2023 - 21,205 2nd year fee 2024 - 21,250 3rd year fee 2025 - 21, 900 B.A Program (Economics+ Philosophy) There are some scholarship opportunities available like GSC scholarship. The college also provides awards annually for students who perform exceptionally in their courses, but this is mostly for honours courses and rare for program.
Campus Life
The annual fest symphony is held in January end or early February. It is a three day fest with competitions, performances, concert day, stalls. It's pretty fun. Especially being a part of the western music society has made it much more of a better experience for me. Student portal is decent. Sports teams are great too. There are a lot of courts.
Admission
Admission process was through CUET UG exam. The selection was done through CSAS portal based on our preference list and marks in CUET exam. Compared to other colleges, Janki is pretty quiet and isolated from other du colleges, which is good for safety. It is evolving each year and for an off campus college it's amazing. I got in with 617 normalised score for B.A Program in 2023.
Faculty
Almost all faculty is supportive and good at teaching except for some professors who have very regressive idealogies. Students do usually pass in their internal assessments. Economics department faculty is great. Course structure is fine, though 1st year under NEP is really tough. Things cool down when you reach 3rd year.
Night Life
NCC ground behind Mother diary and print out shop (when they're not practicing there), is a favourite student hangout spot. Near the college there's Josies cafe, Temple Street and other good food hangout spots.
