Remarks

Its the best college life experience one can get. You can make music here, you can paint here, you can write wonderful poetry here and create memories that you'll never forget. You'll also end up finding the best possible friends you could ever ask for and all in all have the time of your life.

Entrance Preview

Did not need an entrance test to study English Literature. Just needed good board exams results in plus 2 level. The admission process was fairly simple which entailed a PI with the Vice Principal after which the requisite admission forms were filled and the fees was paid. Lengthy process though but easy enough.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum covers the best of British and American literature, starting with the history of English literature and how the English language we know today came about. There's also great emphasis in the course on the technicalities of the English language; and there are term papers to test the skills of students and their comprehension of the subject matter. The electives I had were History and Sociology, with each of them covering the basics of these subjects very efficiently without being school bookish.

Internships Opportunities

There are not internships per se but there's a campus placement cell through which students can avail opportunities of working in some big companies like the ABP group, Google or Cognizant to name a few. Regular interviews are held on campus for these companies and the placement cell is very active.

Placement Experience

4.5

Mostly its the same as above, and the pay packages of these companies start at 3 lakhs per annum, going higher depending on the post offered. Companies that come regularly include Google, ABP group, Cognizant, CESC, Accenture, SBI etc. Hundreds of students get hired every year.

College Events

5

The events are many with prominent ones being Literaria (the English society fest), Xavotsav (intercollege fest), Insignia (management fest), XADAM (intercollege dance and drama fest), NSS programs etc. Colleges from the whole of city come to participate in these fests. There are festivals going at the college auditorium practically every single day.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is divided into admission fee along with a semester fee for each semester. There's also an additional fee at the start of each college year. The fee is feasible with no course charging more than 50,000 INR in totality for a course whether its a diploma or a bachelor's degree. The security deposit is returned after the successful completion of the course.

Fees and Financial Aid

Concessions are offered to talented students who cannot pay the full amount, and can go up as high as discount of 70-80% on the fees.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is very exciting and happening due to the various events that take place as well as the exposure one gets through these events. There are regular science fests and sport events and students are encouraged to participate in cricket, football, basketball etc. Fresher's parties and farewell parties are also very well organized in the spirit of good cheer with no ragging ever taking place on campus. The gender ratio is quite excellent in the day and evening sessions of the college and the morning session is only for boys. Diversity is a prominent feature here and one can find students belonging to various ethnicity, religion, race, sexual orientation, economic status and politics over here all existing harmoniously.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Pretty good. The hostel building is adjoined to the college and the food offered is fresh with options for vegetarians and non vegetarians.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is very professional and helpful offering complete guidance on whatever your query maybe. The senior students are extremely friendly and are always ready to help that lost first semester student who comes along their way. There's no ragging whatsoever.

Exam Structure

Well the entire course is divided into six semesters, with two exam blocks- one called the mid sems (usually like unit tests in school); and the other called end sems comprising of proper honours and general papers.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of the college is unmatched in terms of excellence and teaching skills. The professors are all PhD degree holders, with quite a few of them with degrees from abroad. Each professor is a pro in his/her area of expertise, offering brilliant lectures that make the subject easy to understand, interesting as well as worthy of falling in love with. Also, each professor has a very student friendly attitude and is always ready to guide the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My passion and a bit of curiosity in International Relations led me to choose this course. The curriculum, in fact, prepared me well for further academic pursuits. For improvement, educational excursions and internship opportunities should be made available. The exam is held twice a year on semester basis, with papers set at a moderate to difficult level.

There are limited on campus placement opportunities here, especially for Arts and Eng Hons students. Most students focus on higher studies, competitive exams or off campus opportunities after graduation. The college provides basic guidance through teachers but formal placement drives are rare.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum provides a comprehensive retrospective of literature from the Old English period to Modern period, while also including English works by Indian authors to demonstrate the diversity and evolution of English literature over the years. The current curriculum I believe requires more seminars and lectures from guest faculties on contemporary research and topics.
