Remarks

Among the top Engineering colleges in India it is ranked 12, with a 130% placement in all the streams and especially IT and CSE. This is a reputed college established in 1999 affiliated to MAKAUT, which was a factor why I chose it. It is very reputed, has a great faculty rating and it values every one of your interests and talents. There are 6 different forums available where you can enroll yourself to grow your own specific talents. The teachers and the faculty focuses majorly on your growth, regardless in which path, only ensuring your betterment. I would prefer this Institute to anybody interested in Engineering. It offers IT, CSE, EE and ECE.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose IT as I was very much interested in Computers and Data Structures, the methods used to enable each and every digital platform. The faculty is quite over educated to teach us, this helps in a way that they can teach each and everything required for us to learn to excel in our fields. The student ratio is quite much equal for male and female in each of the classes. Whereas there were 60 students in IT and ECE each and 120 students in CSE and EE each. The teaching method is very effective, each of the teachers can teach in either English, Hindi or Bengali as required by any student, English is preferred by the faculty but it is flexible for the students who need other language.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 384000 per year

Placement Experience

The placement is quite much very good. Each student had at least one job offer regardless of any stream. The companies were all good and among them were Infosys, TCS, PWC and much more. The highest package offered to a student from CSE was 11 Lakhs and that of a Web Developer. The average package was 2-3 Lakhs. I am from IT but I'm interested much in the AI platform, I'm interested in Data Structures and all but I have great dreams in the Digital Platform. I'm a fresher and hoping for good.

College Events

Life at campus is quite good. I am unbale to provide it right now as I'm a fresher in 2020. I haven't visited the college myself yet, so I can't really provide much information about the campus. I can say that there are many forums and among them one is Performing Arts Forum; whose focus is on performances which include music, dance and singing, so there would be quite a lousy time in the campus.

I heard it from seniors that before lockdown it was pretty decent but after lockdown the company visits are not that much comapred to before lockdown.Cognizent, Accenture, Mindtree, PQ360 which is a startup company of our senior alumni etc. visits.

St Joseph's college a Decent one

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placement in cse, it ,ece and sometimes elec branches. The others dpt also offers a quite unique variety of placements from different companies. Nearly 60 percent of the students have been placed in this year and others are still on board for a positive response.

I appeared for an entrance exam and I got a seat for CSE (data science) course at Techno International New Town. But I filled upgradation form and went for round 2. And I got a seat for Information Technology course at B. P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology. So I took admission in this college rather than taking risks of going to round 3.
