Remarks

Admission process:- Merit-based. DU releases cut-offs and you can choose your college based on your 12th Marksheet. Reason to choose:- As the college location is in a very decent locality with almost everything at walking distance. The faculty here is very learned especially the political science faculty which comes among the top of the DU list. They will guide you in every way possible be it with studies or future plans. Bad Aspects:-The campus is very small and it is a major problem because with it we didn't use to get the most of facilities that DU offer in other colleges. The crowd is another reason why most people don't choose despite having good teachers and other facilities. Good Aspects:- Teachers are amazing and very cooperative. The college has many active societies which you can explore and develop yourself. Fest season is one of the highlights where you can really enjoy yourself with your friends. There's a line which SACians quote- "Although we have a small campus our heart is big":-)

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I did my bachelor's in Arts here because this is one of the most valuable courses that DU offers as you get to know and learn about many subjects which is quite useful for non-art background students and who prepare for the Civil services examination. Faculty:-Faculty is very good. They will help on and off the class. And will provide numerous opportunities such as we got to experience one of the parliament sessions and this was a surreal experience for all of us. But be prepared for the loss of many classes if DUTA goes on strike!! The student ratio was also decent as 60-70 students per class used to be present. Teachers are highly qualified and debates etc were held from time to time. One thing that doesn't go well is the suspension of the classes and its frequency sometimes was really high. Exams are held on basis of DU notice and timetable which was always on time. Sincere preparation is needed because the paper was set on basis of all the colleges of DU and was checked outside college premises.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Through Internship Mela or other sources, students tend to find suitable internships for themselves but very few students find themselves in good companies. As mostly are Arts students so they prefer to complete their degree and go for further education.

Placement Experience

3

Different companies come for placements for many courses but mostly it is for commerce students such as E&Y, etc. But the package is not very high so students mostly prefer to continue their studies and enroll themselves in Masters or MBA. Many students go for other lines like acting, or government exam preparation.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are really minimum as my course offered 10K per year But as there were no hostels so we had to look out for PGs or flats which can be expensive. Different courses provided different scholarships, but most of them didn't. Jobs that you get are mostly for the commerce group students which is not that good as compared to top colleges of DU. But there are many other things like internship Mela which DU organizes where various students can go and grab their internships based on interviews.

Campus Life

4

There is an annual Cultural fest - MEHAK which is held around January- February Evey year where different programs are held organized by various societies of the college and a special guest has invited mostly pop culture singers which is the main highlights of the fest. Different courses offer separate fest which goes around every year like .. electronics organizes ELECTRON and under every fest, many competitions are held with exciting prizes. There is a well-equipped library with separate sitting space but it's not very large. There is a major flaw in providing basic amenities in classrooms that needs to be fixed. For sports, there's a different group. There is NCC, NSS, environment club, literary club, dramatics society to name a few which are really good. Another flaw is because of lack of space for sports activities, students face Various issues to participate in competitions.

Interview Experience

4

No. Admission is purely based on Merit /DU cut-off list. Delhi University releases its cut-off every year where based on the 12th percentage you can choose your college and can take admission. Some colleges also offer entrance exams for selected courses.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The reason why I choose this subject because I like history and want to know more about it . History have the best opportunities to pursue the UPSC , Anthropology, archeology and we can learn more about historical researches . The faculty im the department of history is updated and well versed in the field of history and have adopted student friendly teaching methods which make me suggest this subject in JMC to the students who likes to pursue higher studies in history. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty level .
