The life at SIEM

the prior reason for attending this college was the proximity to my hometown. The other reason to chose this college was the availability of the course of my choice i.e. mechanical engineering which was not available at the other engineering colleges in Siliguri. The admission process is flexible i.e. you can either take direct, lateral admission or get into the college through any competitive examinations. choosing Mechanical Engineering was a personnel choice keeping in mind my strength and weakness in various subjects. interest in the subject should be the prior factor for choosing a department/stream. the faculty of the college is sufficient for the number of students in the college. Keeping in mind the current pandemic situation, all classes are taking place via Zoom. Exams were taken within the stipulated time and were strictly according to the MAKAUT guidelines.

College placements are pretty decent. For instance, this year companies like Biskfarm and TopTech TMT bars offered annual packages of 3.0 LPA. The highest package offered was 12 LPA. I can provide no re information about college placement since I am in the first year myself but I will surely update my review after I collect more information on it.

The fee structure is average compared to the other private college. Study cost is pretty low compared to that in Kolkata or Delhi, living expenses included. SIEM is recognized by all the central and state scholarship schemes and the teachers themselves help out the students to apply for these scholarships. Campus jobs are pretty decent and at the end of the day it all comes down to merit.

College life is the best. there are various clubs and events and the college itself holds webinars and workshop from time to time for integration programs and training. the clubs of the colleges include The Robotics Club, the Creative Collective, the Spectrum club among many others. For instance, this year we celebrated the hardships and challenges of the year 2020 in the event "Challiberations" and the INNOVATIA 2K21 was an integrated competition spread over various cultural fields like drawing, dancing, debates, singing etc.
