Remarks

Motilal Nehru College is certainly not amongst the top tier and most reputed colleges of Delhi University, but it is a very decent college. The fact that College lies in South Campus of DU make this college a bit more special than off campus colleges. It has perhaps the lowest fees in the entire University, infrastructure is also decent and canteen is too good and affordable as compared to other colleges in South Campus. It has a flexible attendance routine (like most of the DU colleges) and some really nice faculty and staff. This college runs in two shifts i.e. morning and evening. Motilal Nehru College (morning) has a brilliant library which is the largest in the entire University. College have all type of societies and clubs- dance, music, photography, debate, fine arts, Entrepreneur cell, an active Placement Cell, Economics society etc. Admission process is same as other colleges of DU (based on merit list released by DU), application starts in month of May- June.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am pursuing BSc. Physical Science with Chemistry, the reason to choose this course is it's multidisciplinary aspect, core subjects includes mathematics, physics and chemistry (specialisation). The main advantage of this course is that, one can go for masters in any field (i.e. mathematics, physics, chemistry) after graduation, whereas if you go for Hons. courses such as BSc Hons Chem./Phy./Maths , the you'll only be able to do masters in respective field only. Faculty: student ratio is totally good, and some of the faculty members are highly qualified and extremely good at teaching and methodology to explain concepts. Term exams are conducted in the end of each semester, there are no mid term exams, also the semester exams are of moderate level, and not much difficult to pass, paper checking is also lenient.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Numerous Internships are offered in various profiles every year by the Placement Cell, mostly to the students of all years and all courses. Profiles include graphic designer, business development, sales and marketing, Subject matter expert, HR and operations, finance, counseling, finance, data analysis etc. Some of the past internship recruiters includes OYO, EY, Unschool, Careers 360, Career Launcher, Zauba Corp, Dentsu Aegis Network, Teach for India etc. Many of the internships comes with a good stipend range of INR 10,000 to 30,000 per month, fee internships are unpaid too. Given below the source of Placement and internship stats Source - https://www.linkedin.com/posts/the-placement-cell-motilal-nehru-college-university-of-delhi-a77bab1aa_placement-cell-brochure-mlnc-2020-2021-activity-6711265884016566272-OysQ

Placement Experience

3.5

The college has an active Placement Cell. It organizes workshops, seminars and provides placement and internships in a wide range of profiles. Major placement opportunities are available to BCom students. Final semester students become eligible for campus placements. As per the stats of 2019-20, the highest package offered was 9 LPA and average package was 4.3 LPA. Major job profiles were finance, audit, sales, marketing, consultancy, HR operations etc. and 96+ companies were associated including KPMG, EY, PWC, Deloitte, Decathlon, UrbanClap, Genpact, Chegg, Wipro, FIS, Teach for India, Josh Talks, Inshorts, Careers 360 and many more. However the percentage of students getting placed is not much greater, because majority of students don't sit in campus placements and go for masters. Generally, BCom graduates are offered with better profiles in big companies (KPMG, EY, Deloitte etc) I am planning to go for MCA after my graduation .

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure of college is good, it's extremely affordable, Motilal Nehru College comes in the lowest fees category college in the entire University, the maximum fees of any course/program is not more that 12,000 per annum, after a minor fees hike happened last year. There are many types of merit and need based scholarships available for the students of Delhi University such as Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao endowment book grant, Puran Chand khatri book grant and many more, but most of these scholarships are for minorities (SC/ST/OBC) only. The Placement Cell of the campus is very active, it offers numerous internships to students registered to placement cell on regular basis, and also various placement/job opportunities to final semester students. I also got an internship opportunity in Decathlon as sports leader through placement cell of college with 12,000 monthly stipend.

Campus Life

4

To be honest, campus life is well and good. Kaafila, the annual cultural fest of Motilal Nehru College is one of the most keenly anticipated fests, many big celebrities and singers such as Milind Gaba, Maninder Buttar, Inder Chahal and many more have shown up in past, It's a grand two day event that attract a large no. of students from various colleges, it is organised in the month of March. This College have largest library in the entire University with over 1 lakh books. All books ,journals and magazines are easily available. Classrooms are good , well ventilated and all basic amenities are available but also few classrooms are not good in terms of amenities. All type of sports facilities are available in college, football team of college is amongst the top in entire University. NCC batallion and NSS are also available for boys and girls. There are many societies and clubs such as Economics society, commerce society, photography/dance/music, women development cell and many more

I will rate 10 out of 7 to this course curriculum because in this course the experiment and lab works is too low as compare to another courses like biomedical science, bsc zoology and many more. But it's ok I'm happy with this course.

Companies that visit are Bain and Co., Urban Clap etc. average package is around 5 lakhs. My plans after getting the degree are getting into a master's programme and pursuing research.
