Entrance Preview

I took IIT JEE. I got All India Rank 3598. According to My Rank this was the best college and M.Sc 5 year Integrated in Economics was the best course available to me. Finally my decision was right. For getting into IIT, you have to write JEE Mains and then JEE Advanced. Based on the Rank you are alloted course.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, companies come for Summer Internship Placement. Also their are good chances of going abroad for Research Projects, which are 100% financed by Professor their. More over Internship inside campus can also be pursued for Research Projects.

Placement Experience

Placement at IIT are Quite Good. With 100% placement for those seeking, even if some are left in Campus Placements, due to factors like low Soft Skills, Very Poor CGPA, Low Company Turnaround for a Particular Course, they have good opportunities off campus. Only key is decent Confidence and Basics are Clear. Even for below average students in class I will put minimum at 6-7 lacs per annum.

College Events

In and around February, their are 2 Main Festivals at IIT Kharagpur. Cultural Festival called Spring Fest and Technology Festival called Kshitij. 100s of colleges from country participate in them, Apart from these their is also Inter IIT sports meet every year, which is like a mini National Games. Also their a Sports Festival Inside Campus. Apart from these are Inter Hostel Events through the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees for Under Graduate course is almost 3 lacs per year. But for SC/ST students their is considerable relaxation. Also For Economic weaker sections for General Category, their are 100% scholarships. Apart for these Education Loans are available without any Guarantee as Such of Income of Parents.

Campus Life

Gender Ratio in IITs like many other Science Institutes is Still Skewed, But for last 8-10 years it has started improving, from 5-6% in 2005, Now it has reached to 15%, In few years according to projections it should be above 20%.

Exam Structure

No, no course is hectic, with almost 4 months of holidays in a year apart from Weekends. Their is 80 days of Summer Break, then 10 days of Autumn Break on Durga Puja, and then 30 Days of Winter Break. Their are 2 semesters every Year. Each Semester has Mid Term and End Term. Both these Terms are for One Week Each, and Exams are held Continuously.

Actually In Present Circumstances , Most students wants a stable Government, Especially Central Gov job . So they Prepare for exams like SSC , SBI , IBPS, LIC , RRB etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are quite good.But if you are looking for placement I would suggest to join M Stat or MSQE rather than M Math. M.Math students mostly go for higher studies. Regarding you will better recommendations in ISI.

Placement Experience:

The students from the 3rd semester become eligible for campus placement. TCS, WIPRO, BISLERI, AMUL, etc visited no. Of offers are 1-10 in general. The highest package of 4-5 lakhs and the average is 2-2.5 lakhs in general. percentage of students getting placements is generally 60-70%. I want to be a food microbiologist and want to job in the food industry.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The future job profile for this subject is quite good. That's why I selected this course. The faculty: student ratio is 1:8 The qualification of all the faculties is PhD and their teaching method is very interesting. There is 3 exams (2 internals and 1 semester) in a six month semester. It's neither very easy nor very difficult to pass the exams.

Clg Review

Since I was interested in getting into an IIT from class 11, and IIT KGP was the only college that gave the best branch to college ratio among all other IITs that I was eligible for based off my rank. The admission process for my college for B.TECH involves JOSAA, a counselling system for all government engineering colleges in India where the eligibility criteria is based off JEE ADVANCED rank. Since you can only select one college through JOSAA, the only one i selected was this as this was the only one I was alotted based off my rank. The cutoff for my college is around 12000 for General Male and 20000 for General Female. This increases for other categories like SC ST OBC etc....Read More

Life at IIT Kharagpur

The other college i applied for was Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. It was my backup plan in case i could not make it to IIT Kharagpur. I did not chose BITS Pilani as I cracked JEE Advanced with enough marks to get into IIT. The opportunities which we get in IIT is far more than that in BITS, this was my sole reason to pich IIT over BITS. To get admission in any IIT you have to first crack JEE mains to be able to sit in JEE Advanced. Then you have toi crack JEE Advanced and sit in around 7 rounds of counciling to get into any IIT. But once you crack JEE Advanced its just a piece of cake from there on....Read More
