Remarks
XLRI is the oldest B School in India offering courses for Business Management as well as Human Resource Management. The human resource management program at XLRI is the best HR program in Asia. XLRI is known to have a strong Alumni support known as 'XL Mafia'. I preferred joining XLRI over other converts because of brand value, presence of the finest faculties, placement records, infrastructure, culture, etc. The senior batch was also very supportive in providing honest reviews that helped me in making an informed decision. The admission process includes XAT followed by an asynchronous video interview, GD and WAT followed by a personal interview.
Course Curriculum Overview
XLRI offers two courses: Business Management and Human Resource Management. The batch size is 180 (divided into 3 sections) for the Jamshedpur campus and 120 (divided into 2 sections) for the Delhi campus. The faculty is highly experienced. The curriculum offers diverse learning and helps in making students industry-ready.
Internships Opportunities
Roles offered by companies include: Sales and Marketing: ITC, HUL, Mondelez, Marico, RB, Amazon, etc. Finance: Axis capital, JPMC, CITI Bank, ICICI Bank, etc. Operations: JSW steel, Udaan, etc. GenMan: TAS, ABG, Bajaj Finserve, etc. ProdMan: Media.net, Microsoft etc.
Placement Experience
100% of the students are placed. Despite the COVID scenario, XLRI has managed to improve the average and the medium packages offered. Roles are offered across domains by top companies across sectors including FMCG, Pharma, IT, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The program fee is 25 lacs for 2 years. XLRI has various collaborations that offer scholarship opportunities on the basis of merit. Banks provide loans very easily without collateral. The batch gets paid offers from top companies across sectors for summer internships despite COVID.
Campus Life
Campus life is really exciting with various committees putting in all the efforts to carry out various fests and competitions. Ensemble Valhalla is the annual management, sports, and cultural fest of XLRI which is commenced in the month of November each year. Marketing fest is organized by the oldest committee on campus named MAXI. Various co-curricular committees organize their flagship events. Sports facilities are excellently handled by Sports com.
Hostel Facilities
The campus offers single accommodation. The rooms are spacious and offer proper lighting and cross-ventilation. The facilities include mess providing meals 4 times a day, laundry, TV room, common areas with pool table, table tennis, etc. The food menu is taken care of by a student-run committee.
Interview Experience
The admission process includes XAT, an asynchronous video interview, GD and WAT, and PI. GD topics vary from "Are B-schools becoming nothing but glorified placement agencies", "India and bullet trains" etc. A 15 min discussion was followed by a WAT round where the candidates were asked to summarise their thoughts and views on the same topic. The interview panel was the same as that for GD and WAT rounds. It consisted of 3 professors that were experts across domains. The interview was mostly around "Why MBA", "It is better to come back after industry experience why MBA now", "What is the domain of interest and why is that your choice" "What are your hobbies" and some behavioural questions.
