Remarks
After looking over the colleges I cleared the cutoff of, I took admission to Motilal Nehru College (South Campus) in July 2018. I found it's rating 'good' in all of the aspects of my needs at the platforms like collegedunia.com, career360.com, google map, others also and at its own website. But there is no hostel in the college so I had to look for PG at a good and safe place. Therefore I preferred this college due to its location in South Delhi as there's PGs in Satya Niketan, nearby metro station, bus stop, market that fulfils all your needs, parks and the ambience is good and safe.
Course Curriculum Overview
I did decide to pursue B.Sc physics honours as my graduation since my class 12 as my interest amplified more in physics. Here, All the professors are well experienced and teach's exuberantly but not all of them are devoted to their work. They keep us updated about the developments and workshops in the field. Physics is more about practicals in the lab and the lab of our college is well equipped with all sorts of advanced physics. Also, the lab staff is very nice. But one thing (it's not only in case of our college but the whole Delhi University), I would like to mention here that students miss their practicals due to strikes as the labs are shut for days due to which they face hitches in practical examinations. Though even on strike days, our lab members are so helpful that they allowed us to do lab work so that we would be able to complete our practicals.
Placement Experience
Yes, we have a placement cell in our college and it provides placements for students of all semesters. Except for this, I have no idea about it as I am not going to look for any placement job after my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
Annual fees for the B.Sc(Hons.) physics program is INR 10,570 (3rd year ) which quiet worth it. Even after the fees hike policy, it is increased by rupees 100 only. But what costs much more is 'living' in Delhi. Staying in a PG on rent including our basic needs costs at least 1,50,000 rupees per person annually. So, go for an affordable PG and yes, apply for the scholarships like INSPIRE if you find yourself eligible.
Campus Life
what I love the most about my college is it's the lush green environment, vast campus and a small 'pahadi' at the canteen' side which is really a cool place for students to chill out after their hectic classes, labs or practice in societies. And yeah! you'll find society for all of your interests like Malahaar (music), Bellissimo (modelling), WDC, NCC, NSS, Ecosoc, Jhankaar(dance), Anusandhan (Physics) Abhivyanjana(debate, poetry and creative written) and other clubs to get engaged in. Last year, on March 4, we successfully organized our annual fest Jashn, 20. Other departmental fests are too organised annually. The canteen values your money. The library is well maintained, very large and possesses almost all sorts of books. Sports facilities, WiFi are available. Lecture theatres (science block) substructure gives college like feel but its fans may sound irritating to some people (like me) as it causes a disturbance during lectures in summer, rest the College is known for its infrastructure.
