The Southernmost IIM

Good: Ranked 15th in the recently released NIRF rankings, speaks of the journey which IIM Trichy has covered from its inception. Being a new IIM has many advantages. Location wise, IIM Trichy offers great connectivity to all the cities across the country and also It is very close to Bangalore and Chennai giving an edge over IIM Ranchi and other new IIMs. Bad: Not a major drawback but IIM Trichy is famous for its Finance specialization which is clear from the no. of roles offered in this domain. The faculty to student ratio is best among the new IIMs with all of them having PhDs from reputed business schools. The course curriculum is very well planed, which is followed very strictly. If we consider 3 months per term, then we have midterm exams in between and final end term exams at the end of the 3 months.

All the big companies from various domain visit our campus with Microsoft offering the highest stipend of more than 2 lakhs. Students are also given the chance to opt-out if they get placed on their own.

Placements are pretty good with almost all the students getting placed. Unless there is a serious flaw in the students' profile, our placement team gives ample opportunities to all the students to get placed. Starting from the first term, we start preparing for our Summer placements. Last year average stipend was close to 80k which might come down this year due to COVID.

Currently, we are paying 18 lakhs including hostel & mess which is a 2 lakhs increment over last year. Scholarships can be availed on the basis of their category. for example National Scholarship for Higher Education for ST students. Central sector scholarship of top-class education for SC students.

Because of the Covid, our annual fest DHRUVA was conducted online. All classrooms and hostels in IIM Trichy are Wi-Fi enabled with Wired LAN ports available in all the rooms of the hostels. A sports event called Khelotsav was conducted recently with 5 games such as Chess, Poker, Virtual Auction, 8 ball pool and Ludo.

There is no hostel component in the fee structure provided by the institute. Food is not bad and satisfactory. The menu keeps on changing depending upon the students' feedback. Registration and allotment of the room is a simple process.

IIM Trichy being part of the CAP round, we had a WAT/PI round. If you are a fresher, the Interview revolves around academics, GK, current affairs and basic HR questions. In the case of work experience, academics get replaced by work-related questions.
