Remarks

To pursue my under-graduation degree in one of the most reputed colleges in India was my dream. I had heard about St.Xavier's College from one of my cousin who have completed their under-graduation degree in chemistry in the same college. I was really fascinated by the infrastructure, library, syllabus and moreover about the practical sessions of the department of microbiology. I am from Kerala and have compared different colleges with St.Xavier's college. The availability of advanced practical equipments was the main difference I noticed from the colleges in my native place. Also studying somewhere out of Kerala for exposure and knowing different cultures was also my wish. These all qualities made me choose Xavier's.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Department of microbiology is one among the finest department our college have. The department is very well updated about the syllabus and holds almost all aspects of the course which an undergraduate student should know. Every year they do have industrial visits and I had the opportunity to visit cheese and sugarcane industry. The whole faculty is highly qualified. They put a lot of effort to make the subject more interesting and pops up with many innovative ideas. For me Dr. Karuna Gokarn is one among the best faculty member the department have.

Placement Experience

4

Our college provide placement for both science and arts stream students. The companies that approach the placement cell are helpful only for non-biological science stream students where they could perfectly pursue job in the course they studied. Companies like McKinsey, Accenture, Tresvista, Dalberg etc provide job offers to the students. Most companies have a placement process starting from an aptitude test, group discussion and finally a personal interview. All the companies provide a pre-placement talk where they include a talk from one of our alumni working there. The placement cell informs the students every updates regularly as soon as they receive information from the company.

College Events

5

St.Xavier's College is known for different fests starting from Malhar, Jan fest, MVM and many more. The Asia's top ranked youth fest called Malhar is conducted by our college. Each student in the college is supposed to complete an assigned set of credits for their ECC which will be printed in our graduation certificate. We could achieve these credits by participating in various fests and workshops. Therefore, college ensures 100% participation of each individuals towards extracurricular activities.

Admission

The criteria to get admission in my college was based on the 12th exam score.

Placement Experience:

placements in GHRCE are pretty good for CS/IT branches. Students become eligible from 7th semester, but companies starts giving training sessions from 6th sem itself. Many known companies visits like Tcs, Wipro, Capgemini, cognizant, Infosis etc The highest package goes around 20-22 LPA while the average package is around 5-6 LPA. Almost 70-80% students from CS/IT get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to get a stable job and then do masters.

Students are eligible from 6th semester. Many companies like Accenture, Cognizant, LTI, Ensono come to campus. Highest package would be 13 LPA and lowest would be 3.6 LPA. Percentage of students getting placed would be around 60%. My plans after getting the degree would be looking for a good job.

Government College of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science)
Reviewed on Mar 2, 2025(Enrolled 2022)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course out of sheer curiosity and intrest in the field of Artificial Intelligence . The course offered by the college encapsulates all the major subtopics included in the field. Theoretically the curriculum offers great knowledge about various topics from your course however you yourself have to figure out how do you build your practical skills which you can use in the real world. teaching methods can be improvised by implementing a more practical learning based approach rather than relying on the theoretical part of the subject. there are 2exams per semester, one small exam called as mid semester exams and the other one is the major exam called as final semester exam. difficulty of exam is usually easy to moderate and one can easily pass the exam even if he/she does not study regularly.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the college are the weakest point of the college because you can see that less than 50% of students can get jobs through college and that too with a mediocre package of 2 lpa or 3 lpa. Very few less than 20 companies visit college. Some of them are, Adani, Tata Power, Accenture, etc. The highest package offered was 12lpa and the average is 3lpa. After my degree, I am looking for a job.
