Remarks

Yes the infrastructure. It's extremely taxing to give examinations in locked rooms after climbing 5 floors. ACs are rarely turned on.

Entrance Preview

I scored a 95% and got admission in fyjc in the year 2012. I chose the college because it is the best college, not just in south Mumbai but in entire Mumbai.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Yes we were made to do various projects which required in depth research and not just Google print outs. Efforts made by the students are always appreciated. Even during normal lectures the teachers ask questions which are not readily available in the text. The students are then asked to research about the points and discuss it. At times is not limited to a research and discussion but a research and debate.

Internships Opportunities

Yes there are special cells named as placement cells in college. The stipend would vary as per the company which is coming to recruit. We have the following firms and companies coming to our college - Google, EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PWC, grand Thornton, etc.

Placement Experience

3

Well I do not have the exact figure of how many people had come but around 15-20 Friends of mine got Recruited for CA articleship and the pay was between 9k-15k in the first year which went up to 28000 in the third year. There were written test conducted by some and online by some recruiters. Rest just shortlisted by way of verbal interviews and called them to the office for other rounds.

College Events

4

We have the Talent Parade, Village week, Bazaar, Teacher 's day, Rose day chocolate day , etc celebrated. We participated in various inter collegiate events and our proud winners of Malhar for 3 years at a stretch. In fact when HR participates in an inter collegiate event it never gets anything less than a first prize.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible. It is given aid by the Mumbai university and hence the fee structure is pretty reasonable. Extra fees are collected for online facility. The fee structure would vary from 4000-5000 and fit students belonging to SC, ST, OBC category there are confessional fees but the process is a bit tedious so I don't have the number of students actually availing it.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't availed any scholarship. No idea of the same. But our students are entitled to several scholarship by other universities and college like the Kings college London, university of Cambridge, etc. They come to Mumbai and based on the performance of our student entitle scholarship.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are extremely helpful, rather a motivation for us. When we wake up in the morning and see name of HR College and pictures of our seniors in the newspaper, what could be better our own picture there so yes they're a motivation.

Exam Structure

We have 2 semesters and 2 internal exams wherein the marks are counted in the final exam. The subject teacher may take an additional class test as required. The semester exams are of 75 marks and Internals are 25 marks. Grade system prevails as per the Mumbai university guidelines. One annoying rule is such that once you get anything below O grade there's no scope to reach up to O again, how much ever you study. But as this is the university rule, college can't do anything about it.

Admission

We're supposed to fill the examination form, make a DD and submit the same. Other forms like KYC, e-form to make an online account which gives updates about the happenings in college, etc are also to be filled. There are in total 2 days to secure your admission. Either of the days one could go to get admission and on the same day itself get the ID card.

Faculty

4

The teachers are well qualified and they go out of the box to make the learning process interesting. Sticking to text books and not updating about the real practical things happening in the world is not the way HR or its faculty work. They're an absolute motivation to make the learning process more interesting.

Course Curriculum Overview:

One of the key aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the B.Com course at Sydenham College was its strong foundation in core commerce subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, and Finance. The structured progression from basic to advanced concepts, along with exposure to subjects like taxation and auditing, made the program particularly appealing for students aiming for careers in finance, CA, CS, or management.

De Shaw, and Bain Capital are among the biggest companies and lighter companies are also many. Visa and all are also there which are rare otherwise. For b.com though 30-40k is what is offered but I feel it's fair enough.

Placement Experience:

Placements society of college is just a decade old and still top companies like Zues Capital, Barclays, and Icici bank are among the top colleges that have become a part of ecosystem where 30-40 students is what each companies hires every year. Not many though as too many sections and 500+ students means getting placed even half the students can be a task where Mithibai placement percentage is 60 odd percentage.

Placement Experience:

Impeccable, amazing and unbelievable are the placements here. For B.Com which is as always a crowded college, making sure 60-70% students have placements through campus is a task not less than climbing everest. So definitely all I can say is our college has done so well that it is now the first choice college for commerce not just among Mumbaikars but overall as well.
