Remarks
I took admission in this college based on its ranking and my dream college was SRCC, however after joining Hindu, I realised that it is one of the best colleges and might prove to be even better than SRCC. The faculty is really trained and learned, however it is mostly the self study that gets you going. Other than that, there are many fests and societies that you can participate in and it provides a whole bunch of opportunities to the deserving people. The greatest of them is Hindu College's collab with National University of Singapore, where in students from different nations participate and it is an altogether a unique international experience. My passion for accounts and commerce drove me to opt B. Com Hons in this college and it is one the most renowned courses here.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was always updated based on the guidelines received. However, don't expect much learning just on the basis of course curriculum. Students do internships in their summer break to have that industrial exposure and for that purpose, the internship cell and placement cell work together to help students land great opportunities. The faculty is very learned and experienced and in B. Com Hons, I felt Dr. Lovleen Gupta ma'am is very experienced and teaches really well.
Placement Experience
Various companies visit Hindu College including big four, bain, BCG for consulting, finance, marketing, HR and many more profiles. It is mainly corporates that visit the campus and most profiles aren't suited for students from humanities background. So they're at a disadvantage. But yeah, commerce, eco, maths and stats students mostly are able to get through the placement process with ease. Even the placement cell works really hard to pitch companies to visit the campus to provide opportunities to the students. Some renowned alumni of Hindu College include Imtiaz Ali, Arjun Rampal, Ankur Warikoo, and many more.
College Events
The campus life was awesome. It was worth visiting college daily by travelling for 2 hours. You get to interact with a lot of diversified people and you can hang out with them in the college or outside (the well renowned Kamla Market awaits you when you visit North Campus :)) ). The annual college fest of Hindu College is known as Mecca and is known to be the best fest in DU. We had Amit Trivedi for the star night in 2018 and he set the stage on fire. Mecca witnesses a footfall of around 1.1 lac students and the entry is free for all the DU students. Hindu students get a preference and get a closer view of the stage and also they get a lot of opportunities to gain experience by working in varied domains while organising the fest. Other than the college fest, each department also organises its own fest which is also worth attending and participating.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are various scholarships available based on your annual family income and the grades you've obtained in your semesters. I didn't avail any, so don't know the specifics for various scholarships.
Campus Life
The college infrastructure is really good, most of the rooms are air conditioned (not centrally though), the college has seminar room, conference room to have formal discussions. The boys hostel is built in old fashion, however the girls hostel is designed really well. The WiFi service in the college disrupts occasionally. The library is very spacious with multiple floors and is flooding with books. I don't have much idea about chemistry labs but computer labs are well equipped but the operating system is quite old, they even use Windows XP to be precise.
Hostel Facilities
I haven't been a hosteller, however my friends reviewed the boys hostel as not well furnished, and the building is also built in old fashion. The food is also not very appeasing. However the girls hostel has been recently established and is well equipped and has most amenities(including air con). The boys hostel is quite affordable, but girls hostel is a little expensive and regarding the admission, it is solely on merit basis.
