Remarks

I attended this college for 5 years for my undergraduate BBA LLB Law Course. The reputation of this University has preceded itself. At the heart of Bangalore, it was known for its campus with sprawling greenery, its huge library and brilliant young minds. Looking back at those 5 years, I can vouch for the fact that this University inculcates discipline and hard work in you and makes you better equipped for the real world. The admission process starts from December 8th every year and consists of an Entrance Test akin to the pattern of Undergraduate CLAT Exam and a Personal Interview and a presentation. In the personal interview, you will be asked general questions as to why you took up this subject, etc. You will be given a topic to speak about on the spot as well so as to measure your ability to think on your feet. The cons of this College are that its a bit too strict in terms of maintaining 85% attendance and puts a lot of pressure with 3 CIAS and a final exam in a semester.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have always wanted to become a lawyer and have been excellent at drafting and possess oratory skills, which is essential for a lawyer. The faculty-student ratio is 1:60 in each class. The faculties require a minimum LLM to be an Assistant Professor and have a PHD to be an Associate Professor, making them qualified and smart enough to teach the students and handle them well. The teaching method includes teaching with presentations, current events, etc. You will never feel bored in class. Christ is known for its punctuality. The exam were never a minute apart from the scheduled time. It is not difficult to pass, but extremely difficult to get above 60% as the highest marks are 75%.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship applications may be given through the Placement cell who usually helps you in every way possible to get a good internship at a law firm. Legal internship with a stipend is extremely difficult. But I know of students who have earned Rs. 10,000 as stipend for a months work.

Placement Experience

3

The campus Placement starts from the 9th Semester. But, you can apply through the Placement Cell for internships during breaks. Infosys, Bosch, Pramata, TCS, Thompson Reuters etc. come in for Placements each year. more than 50% of students get placed each year. I am a litigating lawyer at the High Court of Kerala, working at a Law Firm in Kochi within a month of obtaining my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of studies is not very cheap. Bangalore as a city is costly as well. Most students who enroll at the University are quite well-to-do or/and have a political connection. But inside the University, no classification is made on any such basis. Not very sure about the scholarship or financial assistance for Law courses. Although, you can apply for internships outside college in your final year to get a stipend.

Campus Life

3.5

Law School does not have many fests as such. But, you can apply for moots and other competitions in all parts of the country. Its a great opportunity to widen your perspective and compete with the best in the country. The library is brilliant. Rated as one of the best libraries in South India. Classrooms are very clean and well furnished. We have projectors and screens to play videos or presentations. The campus is very alive, with extra curriculars at the University level all around the year. Its truly a lovely place to be. Check out Under25ChristUniversity on Instagram. There are various other pages as well. We also have Journals in specific subjects, Debating Societies, Gender Studies Committee and other interesting Committees in Law Department itself.

Interview Experience

2.5

The test pattern is the same as CLAT. I was asked a proverb on the spot and to speak 5 minutes on the same like an elocution. You require above 90% marks in 12th standard to be even considered for the admission process. Else, quotas are available, especially for Christians. I had prepared for CLAT. No other preparations were done.

It is better to start internship in 2nd or 3rd year for proper legal understanding before a student graduates from the college. The college will provide practical knowledge but it does not encounter proper real life situatons.
