Remarks

It's the best place to study English. The faculty is great. The library is fully equipped to help you in every way. There are no rules as such, you can let your creativity fly. The hours of college are v good and you can attend many seminars and conferences even after attending classes. The college itself organises many such seminars. These will help you to dwell more into the subject. If you love english, this place is for you.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is v poorly structured. It's v outdated. We're just studying what others have been for years now. The course needs to be updated, or else the university will loose it's rank. Other universities study dope topics like the different waves of feminism and we are still stuck with Renaissance. Italian one and Spanish one and English one. I feel we often miss out the socio political environment part of the text which basically inspired the whole text. This makes the course drab and boring and you end up learning stuff just to pass.

Companies like Star India, Zee networks visit our dept. Telegraph and other newspaper agencies visit us too. Content writing firms visit us. A pay of max 30k a month can be expected.

Campus life is great. There is always something going on in college. So you can pursue whatever interests you. But you need to have friends to enjoy this. Finding friends in JU is all about luck. If you are lucky you will be in a dept which has good people and you'll make friends. However if you're in the English dept or Economics dept then you're probably going to be alone and not go to any of these activities. Unless you're a junkie. Then you'll go to everything

Campus Life

The department library is really good. But the librarian so v v bad. I swear you would want to punch her brains out. She is supposed to maintain silence in the library and its always she who screams the loudest on the phone. Other facilities are okayish. Except the bathrooms. They are terrible. If you use the dept bathroom for 3 yrs, you will get UTI. Pls find alternatives.

Placement Experience:

Yes, there is a placement cell at the university campus. It conducts placement related activities and programs for the students. Students are eligible for the campus placement from the 5th semester. Some companies visit the campus to hire the students. Some of the companies are E&Y, SAP, Deloitte, TCS and they have made total approximately 40 offers out of 100 students. The highest and average package of our university is 28Lakhs and 5-6Lakhs for the role of SDE. The percentage of students getting placements if about 40-45%. The seniors told me that the companies offer good packages to the students. I am in my second year so I do not have much information about it. After completing degree from this university, I'm thinking to appear for GATE examination as I want to do my Master's from IIT's.

Yes our college offers campus placements.Students from 4th year are eligible for campus placements.Many reputed nation and international companies like microsoft,Wipro,TCS, Infosys and many more companies offrers placement every year in this college. arrording to 2025 deta overall placement rate was 82 percent, Highest packege was 80 lpa and average packege was 12.6lpa. My only plan to get a good placements.

Till now I am seeing in my own eyes that in previous year, there is a 270 student in marketing and now right now the 15 student left to place and rest of the team are already placed to a many companies like ENYF Flipkart in Bandan Bank ICICI bank in a mini sector in FMCG also and FMCT also, but and retail, but I told that the ratio of placement is too higher than other college and also giving the good package is. The main thing with the job rule should be maintain the package.

Highest package minimum of 3 lacs or a maximum of 5 lacs per annum. 80% of CSE students are provided placement. creating a company in our local state and surviving the work properly it's my next plan.

Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More

Homebound Forward with Jadavpur University

I have always wanted to study in Jadavpur University in one of their literature departments since I was a kid. This was a way of achieving a tiny dream of mine. Moreover, the Comparative Literature Department is the best in all entire Asia and the first one in the country. I wanted to experience the greatness of this course and how the canons of this literature were formed here. It is also the topmost State Public University and 9th in NIRF I wanted to be a part of an institution that could be great to this extent. The admission took place on the basis of a merit-based entrance examination. The seats are limited; therefore, only the top 15 students out of almost 800-1000 who appeared for the exam were selected. The Pros and Cons of Joining Jadavpur University Masters of Arts in Economics

1) I applied for Delhi School of Economics, however couldn't manage an admission due to the extreme cutoff on CUET exam for the same. I had confirmed admission from North Bengal University, however it was not feasible since I had a choice in Jadavpur University. Jadavpur University has the best rank among all other colleges I had a confirmed admission to, so I chose this University. 2) I wanted to study in Delhi School of Economics, but couldn't make it there due to the extensive cutoff in CUET which I unfortunately couldn't clear. 3) Jadavpur University conducts its own internal exam for admission into its esteemed Masters of Arts [M.A.] programme. However one can get through by CUET exams as well, however that needs a decent score.
