Remarks

I was quite interested in basic science & what intrigued me the most was that for two years we were taught all the four disciplines which was adequate time to choose a major discipline for the Masters. Also, the curriculum at IISER also include the humanities courses (detailed & a variety) so one also gets an exposure beyond science.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The syllabus quite detailed and the best thing is that it focuses more on the experimental & practical science rather than just theoretical science. The faculties are all well versed with their discipline & teach the subject with full dedication but of course there are few faculties who do not take their courses seriously but you can always go to the awesome library and find the perfect book for that particular course. There's a strong network of seniors who are always ready to help & at IISER Mohali there's no such thing where you cannot talk to your seniors or you've to pay special regards to them. The people here (including the faculty) are good and highly liberal. So, you can just approach anyone whenever you need help. The faculty is very friendly & they treat you as adults (not kids) so you can be open to them for any problem without any judgements.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, at IIT Kgp. It was a research based project in neuroscience.

Placement Experience

0.5

People generally peruse PhD from various universities of India & abroad. Some, prefer to do MBA & civil services exam. Others give exams like GATE, BHEL etc. to seek jobs. There are only a few placements directly from the campus.

College Events

5

It's great to be in campus. All through the day we have classes & lab sessions but at night you can have real fun like go on a walk around the campus with your friends, play games, read in library, go out as chandigarh has some of the best cafes & places to hang out and many other activities depending upon your interest.

Fees and Financial Aid

I receive a monthly scholarship of 5000 under the INSPIRE Fellowship, DST. KVPY fellow receive their's from KVPY only. Students are eligible for INSPIRE if they've got good score in SCB exam+ a specific percentage score in 12th+ a min cpi=7.0 needs to be maintained. Also, the students who had secured a rank within the top 10000 in IIT(adv.) also get the INSPIRE fellowship.

Campus Life

5

The infrastructure is great. The campus is beautiful & has a lot of greenery for pleasing your eyes & mind. And of course Mohali is a prime location a well connected tri-city. The hostels are common areas i.e, common hostels for boys & girls. So, this gives a very liberal environment for your mind to grow. Also, you can have a beautiful cloud pattern almost everyday past winters. The sport complex is well equipped but I don't know much as I'm not much interested. The labs are highly advanced with many spectacular devices (SEM, TEM, NMR & many others). The library is the best place as it's well furnished, fully air-conditioned (all the time), with almost every book that you'll ever need for studying science. But there are not many novels or other leisure books. So, that's a problem but the library staff is working on that too so maybe in recent years that section will also flourish.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostels have a very good infrastructure as IISER's are new institutes. So, for the first two years you've to share rooms so that's a problem but when in majors you get your own room. So, you can decorate it accordingly. The washrooms are good & cleaned every day. Also, one set of washrooms are not shared by many approx. 5-6 people.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is good as there are many subjects which are important from the point of view and law like sociology and political science and we also have a new subject UNGP which allows the students to know about UN helping them in public international law and internatinal law understanding. The curriculum might not help everyone in real life but the environment you get there and surviving there surely hell one in real life The recommendation from me to do improvements is in checkinh as many students get few marks initially but after revaluation they increases
