Course Curriculum Overview

This course taught me to become a teacher. It was a three-year course. The course curriculum was based of Calcutta University curriculum. The course wasn't hectic. It was a professional training to make me into a teacher.

Placement Experience

We have many career progression facilities like practice for competitive exams, computer education, add-on courses, career fairs and interviews with recruiters. Major companies that recruit from our college are Axis Bank, Marriott hotels, Spicejet, TCS, and Wipro

Fee Structure And Facilities

My total course fees cost me around 27,400 rupees. This was excluding some other additional fees which don't cost too much. We could pay in installments and the college had scholarships for meritorious students.

Campus Life

The college conducted different programs like annual day and held many celebrations like republic day, diwali etc.. I was part of the NSS who conducted blood donation drives and campus cleanings. They also had many clubs and the NCC. The college also had many workshops, seminars and fairs that would help us develop and progress.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels were given to students who had absolute neccessity of it. It was home away from home for us. They had big spacious rooms, library, sports complex, recreation rooms and other basic necessities required by the students.

Admission

I've always wanted to be a teacher. Thats why i took my Bachelor's in English and then did my Masters in Literature. The eligibility criteria for my subject was the aggregate marks of 50% in either of them.

Faculty

Our department faculty had the best teachers! They were so much fun and gave the best advises. They were very much qualified to train us into good teachers. They were also given trainings by the college to be updated on new teaching techniques and current affairs.

GO FOR IT!!

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are several prospects, especially peer-to-peer counseling, where you get a mentor. We call it mentor mentee program. So, there will be groups of students, and each group will have a mentor who helps you whenever you face any issues whether in real life or in your academic journey. They’re always there for you. There are also remedial classes, and extracurricular activities are included in the curriculum. You even get the freedom to choose what you want to pursue creatively, like joining poetry clubs and similar groups. Right now, I’m at Banaras University, and the curriculum here is really good. We have sessions on public speaking, how to conduct interviews, and many other practical skills. These are highly commendable because they help you in professional situations like the one I’m in now. However, I would say that teachers could be a bit more active with electronic tools like using PPT presentations or audio-visual methods instead long lecture sessions. As for exams, I wouldn’t say they’re too difficult because there are many weekly assessments and sessionals, which actually help you evaluate yourself better.

The placements in our college is decent. The average salary package a student used to get from our college was around 4lakhs to 5 lakhs per annum. Mainly they used to bring non IT companies to the IT students. It was rare that IT companies used to comer in bulk.

Placement are not so good but I can confirm you that if you are good in studies then you will have a min package of 50LPA .Every pharma companies in india or out india contains our alumnis as well as you will get a polite and respectful behaviour in every company after knowing you r passed out from Iopj .

This is the oldest Pharmacy college in India

Remarks:

The college is a good college it is situated beside the district hospital and there is morgue beside it. So students will se many dead bodies been taken. This may be problem for weak heart students. But I thing for a pharmacists he/she should be able to see dead bodies.

Remarks:

Institute of Pharmacy, Jalpaiguri is the 1st Pharmacy college in Asia. This is the only one government college in West Bengal. Labs infrastructure is very poor. 100% Placement are done. Our college is very good Pharmacy college in India.
