Remarks

This is a great college and one of the best in Delhi NCR and ones gets admitted in the school one should grab the opportunity with both hands.

Entrance Preview

I joined the college in 2002 and that time admission into the college was through a common entrance exam for all colleges of GGSIPU. I chose this college because this is only the third government college in Delhi Ncr region and had very good placements.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The first three years curriculum for all students is common but in the fourth year students have the option to take up subjects of their choice. There are various electives that students can take - Advanced computer network advanced computer architecture- compiler design- VLSI Design- Digital image processing - Mobile computing.

Internships Opportunities

I interned in 2005-2006 and that time we had the following companies in the campus for internship, HCL, TCS, Globallogic, Conexant, Adobe and a handful more companies the stripend offered was around Rs 10000 in the internship period.

Placement Experience

4.5

Almost everyone in the class was placed and many students had more than one offer in hand. Around 40 companies came for recruitment and the following organizations were the primary recruiters. TCS - 3.0 lakhs per annum, HCL - 2.5 lakhs per annum, Globallogic 2.5 lakhs per annum, E-value serve 2.5 lakhs per annum, Infosys 3.0 lakhs per annum, Adobe 5 lakhs per annum, Conexant 4.5 lakhs per annum.

College Events

4.5

There is a unique three day long Technical festival that the USIT organizes - Infoxpression. The festival sees participation from over 50 colleges in Delhi, including DCE, NSIT and IIT and has events such as Night programming, Linux challenge, Website design challenge, Gaming competition and many sports activities as well. The USP of the festival is that it is held continuously for over 3 days (including in the night ) and the full campus is very vibrant during the whole time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very reasonable being a government college I recall that my fees for the full year was around 17000 Rs. The hostel fees is extra on top of the academic fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

I dont have knowledge about any student loan but I recall that student loans are available from Govt and PSU banks.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio as in any engineering school in India is Male skewed. There are various cultural student clubs such as the Literary club , Sports club, Library club that students can be part of. The college has its own basketball, volleyball and table tennis team. The school is very strict in terms of Ragging or sexual harassment incidences and warnings are placed all around the campus about the potential punishments for offenders.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel room are neat and clean and well maintained the rooms are either double or triple sharing basis based on the years into the course. The students form the mess committee and decide the food menu, food expenses etc for the month i remember that during my time in the college the hostel feel was around Rs 3000 per month but that cost might have gone up in todays time.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is not the strongest for the school and the alumni members could certainly be more active in this regard. However while one is in the school the school has a great camaraderie culture between all the batches and the seniors are very supportive towards the junior batch students.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is as belowIn every semester there is a major examination and two minor examinations. The minor examination happen after every 2 months and the major examination happen at the end of six months into the semester.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the school is world class and it has teachers of the very highest pedigree. Prof Reddy, Prof Navin Rajpal, Prof Pravin chandra are some of the renouned professors of the university with wide areas of research experience.

Students after completing third year are eligible for placement. Placements start before starting of fourth year, and it requires students to have no backlogs in any subjects. However companies can imply their own rules to filter the students such as minimum CGPA criteria. But placements of our college is one of the best placement for a non-IIT college, despite having so many student intake.

Placement Experience:

Placements are decent, average package goes from 5lpa to 10lpa. Highest it has went 84lpa in Amazon so far and can for sure grow in future. 7th semester students become eligible for placement drives and companies like amazon, microsoft, newgen, tcs, ibm, etc are major recruiters here. Around 80% students do get placed but you can definitely be among them by refining your skills and maintaining a good cgpa. I plan to go for off campus placements as well as I'm interested in AI related roles but hoping for even better.
