Remarks

The college ambiance is good, I enjoyed studying there. The residential living helped to get more self disciplined which is very much important for me as I want to join Merchant Navy. The faculties are experienced and that develops the confidence.

Course Curriculum Overview

This is a residential course and requires that a cadet stays at the ship for six semesters. The duration of each semester is 18 weeks. First and Second Year examinations are conducted by the college and Final Year examination is conducted under the aegis of University of Mumbai.

Placement Experience

4.5

A cadet successfully completing the B.Sc Nautical Science can get selected for Merchant Navy. Companies like Aza Shipping, Synergy, MSI, Mercator and BNSU visit the campus for placement and you may get selected through campus selection.

College Events

4

The college conduct a number of seminars that help develop the aptitude for marine life. The workshops are well planned and students participate in it to gain more knowledge. The cultural events are also conducted by the college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is to be paid by the cadets every semester, it is approx 1.15 lac per semester. The total fees goes upto 7.70 lacs which makes the course a bit expensive on the pocket. Considering the future growth of a trainee it is worth paying the fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

This being a professional course may be private banks would be offering educational loan to the cadets studying here. I have not heard about any scholarship scheme as of now, probably no scholarships are given.

Campus Life

The college conducts a number of extra curricular activities, the labs and sports facilities are awesome. You can develop your physical fitness level as out door and indoor facilities of sports exists in the campus for the cadets.

Hostel Facilities

This is a residential college and all the facilities are adequate and well planned. The infrastructure is awesome and caters to the need of the cadets. The hostel is clean and laundry service is provided to the students. Mess food is good.

Alumni/Alumna

Training ship Rahaman has got good alumni network and as the college is offering professional courses having good network will definitely help the prospective candidates to find their seniors in some or the other company.

Admission

You have to apply in response to the advertisement in the newspaper. I directly applied to the college without any sponsorship by any company. You have to submit your Grade X and Grade XII mark sheet.

Faculty

4.5

The college is having senior faculties and all of them are well experienced in imparting training to the cadets. They guide you and instruct about the theory and practice of seamanship and ship knowledge.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements after the 4th sem. Many companies visit and at least one person is hired by every company. Companies from UAE and international companies also make offers. Highest package was 9 lpa and average is 3.5-4 lpa. Only 5-10% students go for a job, others go for higher studies. I am too looking for a part time job with continuing higher studies. Overall the campus placement is good for students looking for a good job and pay. Most get hired as Assistant engineers.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Microbiology is mainly lab based work but it also teaches you other worldly things , the reason behind me choosing Bsc microbiology to do from ruia is because , once i had a talk to an alumni of ruia in which she mentioned that microbiology from ruia is basucally equal of engineering from an IIT. In microbiology particularly i would say the difficulty level is a bit high but only if you don't pay attention to daily lecs and practicals
