Fee Structure And Facilities

it's is less than the other professionals courses like engineering and MBBS. The fees are nominal as it is a government University and alot of grants comes in from the center and state. There are many scholarship and fellowship programmes as well, where the students can get a concession in the fee depending on the merit

During my PhD. I had applied for a government of India, Inspire fellowship, given by Department of science and technology. However, during my graduation days, I was awarded university fellowship which depends upon the merit of the student

The campus life is calm and stress free. The ratio of female to male is 60:40. There is a squash court, a ground for football an NCC ground and a shopping centre. You can also visit the town on Wednesday, Saturday where the university provides the bus facilities

Hostel Facilities

Yes, I stayed in the hostel and of course it was an experience for life. You learn to be independent, handle different situations and make your better person. Although there are around 6 girls and 4 boys hostel, still if one doesn't manage to get a room because of larger occupancy, there are PGs and studio apartments get near to the entrance of the university. If one wishes to stay in the city (Solan) which is 13 kms from the university, there is a university bus available

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni association is an amazing platform where all the alumni are connected right from the start of the university. Also every senior is very warm and helpful. The alumni group are also made state wise, where everyone tries to meet atleast twice in a year is not more.

Admission

An entrance exam is conducted by the university as well as admission through the common entrance test by ICAR for all the agricultural Universities. The university also offers a self funded seats where the fee structure is higher and the admission is also on the basis of merit.

The faculty is well read, experienced and have great exposure. The minimum UGC guidelines are followed during the recruitment process. The faculty is promoted only on thr basis of the scoring and assessment. University also gives funds to the faculty to get exposure about the new techniques where in they can go abroad or to any national institutes of repute for upgrading their skills

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I liked horticulture .This course is very well applied in real world in cultivation and growing of vegetables, fruits and flowers and horticulture also has job opportunities in private sector. There are some improvements like more practical learning, real world exposure etc. that could be made to make this course more effecgive in real world application. The exams are conducted per semester and the difficulty level of exams is average.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as my father had studied the same course and had the same profession that I'm aiming for. For improvements i would like to recommend more practicals rather than theory classes as, practical knowledge is just as important as theoretical knowledge. The frequency of exams is a problem. There is very less gap between examinations which makes it difficult to prepare for the vast subjects. Plus, the marking is strict, and the criteria to pass the exams are also complicated.

The course curriculum is good overally but also kind of too much for a student to cover as you got 10-12 courses in a semester to study. The frequency and timing of the exams should be adjusted so that students may got appropriate time to prepare for them
