Likes

The course curriculum is very diverse and practical oriented preparing us for professional life
Whatever one wants to do in life, all the resources to succeed can be found in the university
The faculty and alumni are very helpful even for out of syllabus doubts

Dislikes

The gym looks modern and well equipped but most of the equipment is broken and out of date or broken
Sports is not given a priority, while there are facilities for students to play but no opportunity to go big
No student representation in academic council leading to biased and unfriendly decisions.

The course curriculum is very relevant as it constitutes of various subjects from different aspects of agriculture that prepare us professionally. It still leaves option for us to take different paths depending on our interest after graduation.

Class Size: 138Course Fees: INR 45000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

All the fees charges like tuition fees, management fees, laboratory fees etcetera are all paid at start of the semester and is about 45000 per year. Students applying for self finance seats have to pay extra 80000 every year. Scholarships are provided to all ICAR nominated students and top 10 merit students of about 10 to 15 thousand per semester.

Campus Life

Annual fest is called Agri night organised by the agro club in which different students showcase their talents but different events are organised in the university throughout year. Books and journals in library are easily accessible to all students and some books are such that they can't be found anywhere else. Sports and athletics event also takes place once every year in which all colleges of University participate

Admission

For admission I had appeared for the ICAR exam but these days students have to appear for the CUET exam. Cut off for normal seats is about 90 percentile and that for self finance seats is 65 percentile Counselling session takes place in the University itself in about 3-4 rounds for admission of students

Faculty

The course is very diverse and varied and helps students prepare for further goals. The faculty is good and knowledgeable and very helpful but at the end students have to study by themselves. Exams happen once a semester in two phases of internal and external. Not many students fail as the question paper is not very difficult

Interview Experience

I had appeared for the ICAR exam to take admission in this university but now students have to appear for the Cuet Exam at national level and after qualifying the exam, have to apply for counselling on the official University site. Counselling takes place in university itself in 3-4 rounds in which documents verification takes place

I chose this course because I liked horticulture .This course is very well applied in real world in cultivation and growing of vegetables, fruits and flowers and horticulture also has job opportunities in private sector. Tit bits about the agriculture university

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as my father had studied the same course and had the same profession that I'm aiming for. For improvements i would like to recommend more practicals rather than theory classes as, practical knowledge is just as important as theoretical knowledge. The frequency of exams is a problem. There is very less gap between examinations which makes it difficult to prepare for the vast subjects. Plus, the marking is strict, and the criteria to pass the exams are also complicated.

I applied for icar reservation through CUET examination through which I had a confirmed admission in GADVASU Ludhiana but, i preferred CSKHPKV, Palampur because it is loacted in my hometown and it has the course i was willing to take.
