Life in Dr. YSP University Solan

Likes

There is large caffetetia, gymnasium and large area to roam around in campus.
There are all kinds of shops (stationery, food shops, cafes etc.) inside the college.
The campus management arranges various functions and events time to time

Dislikes

There is lot of work pressure on students.
The fee is I guess too much and should be reduced.
Some of seniors are arrogent and don't co-operate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I liked horticulture .This course is very well applied in real world in cultivation and growing of vegetables, fruits and flowers and horticulture also has job opportunities in private sector. There are some improvements like more practical learning, real world exposure etc. that could be made to make this course more effecgive in real world application. The exams are conducted per semester and the difficulty level of exams is average.

There are some restriction like timing of hostels that are 7 pm during winter , and 8 pm during summer.

Syllabus is so vast that we continuously have to give exams . There are approximately 10 courses average in each semester We have to give practicals , mid terms and finals of each course, which is a bit hectic task.

Tit bits about the agriculture university

Likes

The faculty in interactive and social. They provide help when asked nicely.
The campus is huge and really beautiful. It has a lot of greenery and fresh air.
Electric cabs are provided to travel from one department to another

Dislikes

The washrooms of the university need a lot of improvent, sometimes water isnt available sometimes the washrooms are left dirty for days.
There are not many events organised in the university and sometimes it feels like all we do is study and there's no fun in that.
For some events the limitations of day scholars are not taken into conaideration...mostly hostellers get all the fun. It makes us day scholars feel excluded.

This college was my first preference because of it's reputation and populatrity in country .I chose this college because some of my friends were studying in this college and they gave me positive reviews about this college making it my preference over other college. I didn't get rejections from any colleges, I just wanted to get in this college. The admission process is pretty simple . The university conducts a college level exam for admission . The students who clear the exam get normal seats and there are also self financing seats which are based on +2 marks . The fee structure of self financing seats is more than normal seat...Read More
