Remarks

Best infrastructure with low fee was the key attraction of the institute. If you are more of an individual learner the facilities could be used quite well in excelling or reaching great heights in career in the institutes environment.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Being in a deemed university gave us the privilege of a getting course curriculum which was tailor made and refined based on feedback within the institute. The course contents were mostly relevant ones but less research driven. The curriculum lacked innovation but made sure the students are imparted a wider knowledge base which gave us find our own niche interest areas within architecture and venture into a career based on it.

Placement Experience

4.5

Job placement is one area where the institute stands way ahead of its counterparts from within the state which is possible largely owing to the brand name of NIT under which it is tagged and party because of a well working placement team and department.

College Events

4.5

The institute was quite popular in the state for its National level technical and Cultural festivals which regularly gets high participation from institutes around the country. The multicultural student community gave us the opportunity to see festivals around India every year and get a closer experience of India's diverse cultures.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a student at this central government institute gave me the privilege of availing the best infrastructure with highly affordable fee. There were hardly any additional charges beyond the fees and the charges for the hostel mess or canteen were low too.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college hardly provided scholarships as the fee here is a subsidized one. But the masters students secure a seat here with GATE test results which provides them with a nominal stipend.

Campus Life

4.5

The institute had one of the best states of the class infrastructure in sports, labs, etc. The campus life was very exciting with a multicultural student community and scores of activity clubs or groups which were proactive in conducting events and programs. The gender ratio of the institute was quite skewed through architecture departments had a good gender ratio and often with more females than males in a class.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel rooms were 3 in a room in the first year, 2 in the second year, and 1 from 3rd year onwards. The hostel fee too was highly affordable with around 500 or less for accommodation. The hostels were of good quality and regularly maintained well with common amenities like neat toilets, washing area, common room, game facilities, mess hall etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is not that strong though a few interact on social media based groups online. A few alumni actively engages with the institute both in academics as well as participation in local fraternity activities.

Admission

Dreaming about my house and my city was something which I carried from with me since young age. When I came to know about a course which could help in engage in a profession which materializes such dreams, I chose it in pursuit of my passion. The admission process was through an National Level Aptitude test with Design Aptitude section, Maths etc. Final allotment process happened in NIT Calicut and was fortunate to secure an admission in NIT Calicut itself.

Faculty

4

Faculty team comprised of about 20 members with an average age of around 40 and mostly doctoral and Master degree holders. Many of the faculty members in architecture department here is aligned towards urban planning which is why the institute started a master programme in the same. This dominance in one specialisation had little impact in the school of thought and design methodologies in the studios. Though this course demands a highly fluid studio learning system, the training here was focussed in delivering a bit rigid system to the students which I would say would not go well with most students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as I am passionate about architecture. Student faculty ratio for design subjects was satisfactory. For our class of almost 38 students, we had three design faculties. Faculties were well qualified, graduated from various reputed colleges from all over India.

Admission:

I wrote a NATA exam. First, I got admission in Tamilnadu. Due to some health-related issues, I can't be okay with the climate of Tamil Nadu. Then I searched about colleges in Kerala and found this. We went to this college with certificates, mark lists etc and they made an interview. After I was selected in that interview, I joined there.
