Remarks
To be honest, I wasn't left with much of a choice while choosing a college because of the rank I got. But, amongst the choice I had, I chose Lakshmibai College as it is a reputed college to have a great faculty for this course, which is one of the major points to look for when enrolling for a course. Bonus point was that it was near to my place , so I saved myself some time travelling which majority students doesn't consider and regret it later. Many people ask a question is that why opt for BBE and not Economics hons.? To that I would answer that even though most of the syllabus for both courses is the same, while Eco hons. provides in-depth knowledge in subjects like Economics and Mathematics, Business Economics hons. provides knowledge in diverse subjects, not only do we do Economics and Mathematics, we also expand our profiles in finance, marketing, statistics, commerce, etc. Hence, as I wasn't absolutely sure about strictly going for economics and mathematics and wanted to have a diversified portfolio of options to pursue later, I opted for Business Economics hons.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am studying in the batch 2018-2021 and the course curriculum was just updated recently and it pretty much covers all the theoretical knowledge. There are some really good papers, which can get you an advantage in your future career , like there's a paper Corporate Finance in 2nd Year which, if you are interested in making a career in finance, will provide you with great insights, theoretically. Speaking about industrial exposure, we do have practical subjects in this course but it's not enough to help in future, you have to add some extra efforts to learn more skills to be competent in the corporate world. And not to mention, best way to get more industrial experience is to do more and more internships. The faculty at Lakshmibai College for Business Economics is quite good, as there are teachers with years of experience in this field. I would specially like to mention Ms. Sonica ma'am , who is exceptionally good in macroeconomics field.
Internships Opportunities
I did a summer internship in my 1st year at POPxo as a community management intern with a stipend of Rs.10,000. Later in that year I did an internship at Mental Health Foundation, India as a Finance Intern. I got the internships at an individual level, not with the help of the Placement Cell.
Placement Experience
As I mentioned, the placement cell has recently picked up the pace and has landed many huge companies for placement offers at our college recently, like Tata TPDDL, Wipro, Genpact, TravClan, etc. The average package in our college is around 3-4 L.P.A. In addition to this, our college recently had an Internship fair with over 40 companies, like Sharekhan, Outlook, Konnecting Korporates, etc with various different profiles.
College Events
Lakshmibai college has quite a reputed drama society Navrang, which is not easy to be a part of, but it's worth it. There are other societies for dance, music, NSS, etc. There's an active placement cell that is growing at quite a pace now. The sports field is a booming society too, as the teams have made quite a mark in other colleges by winning several events. Speaking about fests, there are department fests of every course, happening on different days, depending on different departments, how they want to conduct them and when. The main drawback is that the Cultural fest at Lakshmibai College is not quite upto the mark, as for quite a few years the Student Council hasn't been able to get a huge celebrity at the fest and hence people don't usually come for the fest.
Campus Life
The campus infrastructure is quite decent now as compared to earlier. Business economics students has specially assigned classes and labs to them for only their own purpose. There's limited wifi accessibility. There's new constructed library which is quite spacious than before. There are all sports facilities available.
