Remarks

PES University provides a good exposure to it students where the students learn a lot academically. There a number of things like Extra Curriulars, Infrastructure, etc it could improve in. But it gives its students a vast number of opportunities. It is not simply one of the best colleges for Computer Science and Engineering in Bangalore.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum requires a student to get 176 credits in a span of 4 years or 8 semesters. Each semester approximately gives you 21-24 credits. 1st year - Mixture of all subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical, etc. 2n year- Basic computer science concepts like Data Structures, Algorithms, OS, etc. 3rd year- Deep dive into particular subjects based on choice of electives like Machine Learning, Advanced Algorithms, Data Analytics, etc. 4th year- Mostly comprises of an internship and a final year project. Some of the electives were really helpful in terms of placements and further studies.

Placement Experience

3.5

The College has good placement record with packages ranging from 4LPA - 48LPA. Some companies that visited for placements are- Microsoft, Atlassian, LinkedIn, Adobe, SAP labs, Intel, Citrix, Cisco, McAfee, etc. More than 80% percent of the students get placed every year. There was a lot of help from the University for placements. There was also a 21 day crash course led by faculty to prepare students for placements. There are a few intership opportunities as well. I had secured an internship in Microsoft Bangalore before my final year.

College Events

3.5

Holi, Christmas, Arts Day, Cultural Day, all medically important days are celebrated. There need not necessarly to be holidays on college events.A fixed amount is collected from students. It is a per-fixed amount

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is a tiered fee structure. The average fee for admission through PESSAT is a little on the higher side. Management Quota fee is the highest whereas admissions through CET is the cheapest. The fee breakdown is not very transparent as Tution Fee usually has the largest share of the total fee. The modes of payment accepted as Demand Draft and Cheque only.

Fees and Financial Aid

The College offers many scholarships. For most of them there is no need to apply. For example CNR Scholarship- 30% fee waiver annually for the top 20% students of the batch. MRD Scholarship- 5k cash reward for top 5 students in each batch.

Campus Life

3

The gender ratio is almost 1:1 for my course. There are people from a lot of backgrounds. The labs have food facilities for the students and ample number of labs to accommodate all students. There is no discrimination based on a student's background on any level. There are a lot of workshops conducted from time to time to help students be connected to the latest technology. There is not enough importance given to sports in my opinion.

Alumni/Alumna

Throughout my course, there was not a good alumni network or communication with senior. This seems to improving now as I have been asked to join many alumni groups.

Admission

I was a little late to apply for this college and hence I didn't get direct admission. I had to apply via management quota. Even then, Computer Science seats were not available and I had to choose Electronics (EC). I manged to get a branch shift to CS after an year through merit (top 4 students got a branch shift). CS here is in heavy demand as this is one of the best colleges for Computer Science engineering in Bangalore.

Faculty

4

The tentative number of lectures including assistant professors is around 150+ for my course. The average age of lectures should be 35-40. Some lecturers are really experienced and hold multiple patents and publications. Most of the faculty holds a Postgraduate degree. They also have a significant number of faculty with a Doctorate. There are multiple subject experts in each department to provide clarity to students at all times. Most faculty have a lot of academic experience while some have industry experience and exposure too.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell is very active in our college. Every year more than 30+ companies come to our college for recruitment . Our seniors from 7th semester get placed in many companies and before getting placed in the company our college offers internships to every student. Around 80 % of the students get placed in companies and work efficiently. The average package for civil engineering is 2.5 lakh per annum.

Placement Experience:

RIT's placement scenario is very good, even for the most unpopular branches such as Civil Engineering. Starting from the 7th semester, students are allowed to participate in campus recruitment, and companies come to the campus for the entire final year. The major recruiting companies are L&T Construction, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Sobha Developers, Atkins, PWD, and Infosys for the non-core sector. Civil students on an average get ?5–6 LPA as salary, and the highest offer is usually in the range of ?12–15 LPA, depending on the company and the position. Almost 70–80% of Civil students are placed, while some of them go for higher studies or government examination.Site engineer, design engineer, planning engineer, survey engineer, and trainee engineer are the core positions that are offered. Also, non-traditional roles in IT and consulting can be taken up by those who are not interested in core engineering profiles.I will first acquire some work experience in the industry after completing my degree and then will pursue a master's degree in structural engineering to gain further specialization.

Students become elegible for placements from 7th sem onwards but we are encouraged to do internship before final itself. Most of the companies that come here aren't t1 or even t2. Highest probably would be 12L only if the student is exceptional but most would secure a package 4-6. And the percentage of students getting placed is <50%
