Remarks

Since it is a purely applied science college so we get a good opportunity to study well in the college premises. However, the college is an off campus college which pose certain challenges for other students who have to visit our college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is an applied science course which provide us with theoritical as well as hands on training on this subject. It offers numerous opportunities for a student after three years of graduation. Also, its an interesting subject because during lab sessions we deal with microorganisms which a person can not see via naked eyes however we microbiologists are so fascinated by the work they actually do for us and for the environment.

Placement Experience

3.5

Since our college provides only undergraduate courses so very few students prefer jobs after graduation and for those the placement cell of our college works well. Yes, students can do internships under various faculty members in the college premises.

College Events

2.5

Srijan- Cultural fest Various departmental fest like Microquest by Microbiology department. Annual Day Annual sports day Independence Day Republic Day Various environmental events Deepotsav which is a pre-diwali celebration

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure ranges from 12,000 to 30,000 as per different courses. And this is feasible for students. However those students who can not afford this amount can apply for scholarships every year offered by the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

I do not have any idea because i have not applied for any loan or scholarships. However every year many students apply for loan or scholarships which means may be they are getting enough facilities to pay the college fees.

Campus Life

3

Various interdepartmental, intercollege sports activities are held by the college and the university respectively. Each academic year many societies are being managed by the students and faculty of the college which include dance, music, drama, literary and debating societies. National conferences, workshops, seminars, hands on training, career counselling sessions are also being held. We have a special cell WOMEN DEVLOPMENT CELL for encouraging women students of our college as well as the girls residing nearby college.

Hostel Facilities

3

We don't have hostel facilities in college so we prefer pg's around the college. I stay in pg which is around 20 minutes away from college. There i share my room with a girl. We pay Rs. 8000 each which includes room rent, maintenance, laundry and 3 times food. However, since the college is away from pg so we pay around Rs. 100 to rickshaw on a daily basis.

Alumni/Alumna

The college organises Alumni meet every year in the college premises. Our department organises a lecture series which is delivered by alumni of our department. So far we have been organising 7 successive alumni lectures which is being praised by other departments of our college. We also have an interaction with our alumni every academic year wherein we are free to ask our queries or other issues that we face in the college. And yes the seniors are helpful as well.

Admission

I got selected as per the admission criteria which was 92% in PCB for Microbiology course. This is a Delhi University affiliated college. There are so many other criteria like entrance based but for my course the admission criteria is Merit based on 12th standard.

Faculty

4

Our course is one of the best course of our college not because it actually is an interesting course but because we are equipped with skilled, knowledgeable and helpful faculty members. They always encourage us for various seminars, hands on trainings, National conferences and workshops. They also encourage us for co-curricular activites.

Indira Gandhi National Open University - [IGNOU], Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)

Placement Experience:

Placements in IGNOU are quite limited compared to regular universities. Since IGNOU is an open and distance learning university, it does not have a strong campus placement system like DU or private colleges. There is a Campus Placement Cell (CPC) that conducts job fairs and recruitment drives at some regional centers, but these are not very frequent and mostly depend on the location. Usually, students who are in their final year or have completed the course can apply, but there is no fixed semester rule since the system is flexible. The companies that visit are not very large in number and vary every year. Some private firms, NGOs, BPOs, insurance companies, and small IT firms have participated in the past. The roles are generally entry-level such as sales, customer support, data entry, insurance advisor, or junior IT support. There are very limited opportunities for core mathematics or research roles through placements. As far as packages are concerned, the average package is usually around ?2.5 LPA to ?4 LPA, but since IGNOU is an open university, it cannot be expected to have the same placement levels as regular colleges with full-time classes. Also, the percentage of students placed is very small because most IGNOU students are either working professionals, homemakers, or people preparing for competitive exams, so placements are not the main focus. Many students use the degree as a qualification while pursuing their own career path outside. I am currently in my 2nd year, so I do not have personal placement experience yet. The data I have mentioned here is based on internet sources and feedback from other IGNOU students. From what I have learned, placements exist but are very limited, and one should not rely only on them for career building.
