Heaven on earth

This is as lush green campus situated on a small hill. I would say the best memories of my life are related to this campus. It would be the best place for any body who look for a good campus life. Infrastructure for architecture department is limited but a new building is in construction and soon will be open.

Course structure is quite good. Both Juries and exams would be there. Jury days are the nightmares for every architecture students. Structural design is found bit difficult for most of the students. It is also quoted that if you want an easy life don't be an architect by the famous architect Zaha Hadid.

There are no placements provided by the department so far. Internship was during the fourth year of the course. The student can do in any firm which has minimum 3 years of experience. Few offices provide stipend and unfortunately interns are paid very less.

Our college host national level tech fest- RITU. It is a thouree day fest organised fully by the students. Apart from this fest there are other important celebrations like Freshers, football tournament, arts fests, sports meets, etc.

The college fee was six thousand rupees per year as it is a government college. Students can also avail various scholarships funded by state government, Central government and other NGOs. Apart from college fees hostel rents, mess bill, bus fare, PTA fund are other expenses.

KPCR scholarship is a centrally funded grant for students. It is based on income, caste and merit of the student. It can be availed during the course in all semesters. The fees like tuition fees and exam fees will be directly covers by this scholarship. There will be a monthly stipend of about 250 rupees or more.

The college has a strong and vibrant student council elected by the students. There are various political student organisations active in the campus. Students from different parts of Kerala are studying in this institute.

The hostel is decent. It is also managed by the institution and the students. The mess bill is divided system. Each room is shared by 4 members. There are available PG's near the college as there limited seats in hostels.

Alumni often contribute the well being of the institute by the alumni fund. They often meet in and off campus and organise events. They are very helpful, interactive and approachable in all situations.

I had an aptitude in drawing and thus attended NATA exam, for which I qualified. I also had to attend the state government engineering entrance exam. The admission is b based on the marks acquired in 12th and the NATA marks. Clearing the engineering paper in entrance exam is also must.

Mine was the third batch of the department. So, there were no enough faculties and infrastructure. There are hopefully more faculties now who are efficient and passionate. Most of the faculty has completed their masters.
