College review of IIT ISM Dhanbad

My college is very good in terms of campus infrastructure and placements but lacks decent professors and director for that matter. If I could change one thing about the college, that would be the professors.

The course structure is at par with any IIT and focuses on development of thinking ability. There are 2 semesters in a year, each semester has a mid sem and a end sem, also internals are calculated by quizzes and attendance.

As it's an IIT, so the placement and job opportunities are immense especially in fields of computer science and electronics. Almost all the students get placed and they get good packages as compared to non IIT colleges, especially Bits.

Mainly we have a technical fest called concerto and a cultural fest called srijan. They are done on a large scale and the participation is from around India. People from nearby nits and IITs come to participate and enjoy the fest.

It is a little bit expensive. An average indian cannot afford to pay that much amount. So most students take student loans and pay the amount after they get a job. They are a number of scholarships and financial aids available.

Our college offers a scholarship named MCM, it strips off tuition fees of students who family income is below 600000 annually. There are number of other scholarships too which are based on merit basis.

Gender ratio is about 25 girls out of 100 students. The gender ratio is increased due to 20% reservation of girls in the IITs. Our college is very strict on matters like discrimination and takes strict actions against people who are involved I such activities.

Yes I have opted for hostel. The hostel are not so luxurious, but on the same hand they are not that bad also. for the rent we pay for the hostels, they are adequately good. The average rental for hostel is 3000 per month.

The seniors are very helpful in terms of guiding you towards your goal. Like people usually want to get in the field of software development and seniors help juniors in telling them what to do and where to study from.

IIT ISM Dhanbad is a government institution which takes admission thourough jee advanced. First I cleared JEE mains and then got a rank of 5k in JEE advanced. Then thourough the admission rounds we had to fill colleges with courses with our preference and then it was allotted to us.

The faculty of this college is on decent level, they are not from IIT's, so they are not at par with the students itself but they are okaish. In terms of interest in teaching, they don't really have a choice, what else would they be doing.
