Likes
- Apart from an annual fest, we also have departmental fest and that keeps us engaged all round year.
- Faculties teaching methods are quite modern as even though our faculties are old but they have kept up with the current pace.
- Even our hostel wardens are quite co-operative as one complain and it gets rectified at the earliest.
Dislikes
- Wi-Fi is poor in hostels and also it hardly catches in some part of the campus, I think this needs to be corrected soon.
Course Curriculum Overview
Obviously it's because of the poor score that I had that I had to choose this engineering. Otherwise CSE was my first choice but then I had to go for Civil or Chemical and I was like, Civil certainly not my choice. This is how chemical engineering happened to me and I am okay with it as it is more challenging than CSE for sure.
Placement Experience
Highest package from our campus is eye catching as it's 56 lakhs and for chemical branch it was 34 lakhs. HUL, Sun Pharma, public limited labs and various R&D research centres are those that have helped us to get best available jobs in market as the competition is high but BIT Mesra has still managed to place over 80% students last year.
Fees and Financial Aid
BIT Mesra Ranchi, fees is slightly high and also the number of students are quite high. However, to maintain such a campus fees will always be high as we have everything available right at our campus. Our fees is 4.8 lakhs a year and even SC/ST students get just 15-20% scholarships which is otherwise 50 or more in most cases.
Campus Life
March month is the one where we have a Holi part at the campus and also the annual fest Bitotsav. We have three libraries at the campus and four auditoriums. We also have fun centres and basic amenities shops inside the campus. We also have parking area and students are allowed to keep their vehicles in the campus.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel fees is fixed at 90k for first year students but depending upon the mess that we choose the fees vary. So my mess fees is 65k yearly as I am into a vegetarian food mess and students who opt for non vegetarian mess has to pay 90k as mess fees.
Admission
BITS Pilani and it was not IITs which was my first choice. However, with the kind of competition that if faces as out of 5 lakh applicants only 1200 gets admissions there. As that was missed I was like I have one top college in my state only and hence I took admission in BIT Mesra as it also accepted BITSAT score.
Faculty
Our faculties for Chemical Engineering department have a working experience in intermediates and Life sciences companies. All, of them are well are of chemicals and pharma drugs and therefore they give us knowledge beyond books. Rajnish Sir is arguably the sweetest one I have come across in 8 months of my college life.
Night Life
For shopping we have Pantaloons very close to our campus and also some malls are there as well. For food it's a students paradise as Saddam Adda restaurant will see students seated everywhere in the campus. There's also a Chai Sutta Bar outlet nearby.
