Central University

Pondicherry university gives a different exposure to the students. The infrastructure facility is very good. All the faculty members are very much talented and highly qualified. The university gives good freedom to the students. There is no much restrictions in the hostel. The main problem about the university is the fee structure is very much expensive.

M.com Accounting and taxation was offered from 2012 in the university. This course is a rare course and no other universities offer this course in India. The course structure is designed according to the present needs. And further research is very much possible under this course. The cariculm is made in such a way that we get more applicable knowledge than just theories.

The university is not providing any internship opportunities but the department is very much interested and supportive in sending the students to various companies for internship. Some companies are coming to our university for placements.Last year Federal Bank recruted more than 5 students from commerce department itself.

The main event that is organised by the commerce department is National level Commerce fest called 'VANICOM'. It is the biggest fest in our university. More than 900 students participate in the fest from all around the country.

The fees is comparatively high as compared to other central universities. The fee is different for different department. In commerce department at the time of admission the total fee including the mess fess is about ?40000. And for each semester there is a fee around ? 3000-4000.

The university is providing scholarships for the students who gets good position in the enterence examination.And also university is providing scholarships to the students who gets first three ranks in the semester exams.

Pondicherry university well known for sports. Almost all kinds of sports are there in the university. The male female proportion is almost equal in the campus. Pondicherry university holds the first position in gender equality among the central universities in India.

In the university there is seperate hostels for students and PHd scholars. There is 19 hostels in total for boys and girls. The hostel buildings are good and clean. There will be 3 members in a room and the room has enough space and infrastructure. The hostel fee is very less amount to ? 900 per annum.

The seniors are very helpful. They helped me a lot in my studies. When I came here first they helped me to understand about the life in pondicherry university. The seniors are very much supportive in conducting any programmes in the department.There is a good number of aluminies who are in very high positions all around the world.

I got the admission in Pondicherry central university through enterence examination.It was held in April of 2019. I got 31 st rank in the examination. There is two courses offered under M.com. First is M.com Business Finance and the second is M.com Accounting and Taxation. Both these courses had seperate enterence exam.I opted for M.com Accounting and Taxation,because I am very much interested in taxation field and I like to pursue my career in accounting or taxation field.

All the faculty members are highly qualified. All of them are PHd holders in different areas of commerce. There are proffers who took PHd from IITs. Each subject is allotted to those who are specialised in it.
