Remarks

College management is very helpful. Both Dean office and Director's office are helpful in any matter. Anyone can talk to Dean personally over phone.

Entrance Preview

WBJEE (Medical) I chose this college because it is associated with the best hospital in West Bengal, as well as eastern India. It is one of the oldest & belongs to the elite group of super speciality govt. hospitals in India.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Great. It's not easy to be a Doc. Huge academic curriculum, as well as acquiring practical knowledge. It's never easy. Sometimes it feels like a never ending journey. But there is an ocean of knowledge that never lets you bore. It is amazing. I feel lucky to be here.

Internships Opportunities

I have not yet done my internship as I am in 2nd yr student (2nd professional MBBS). Current stipend offered: 16000 (approx.) After completing internship, some may join as housestaffs. They are given 26000 (approx.)

Placement Experience

4

Doctors get jobs wherever they go. 1. Most of the docs after completing MBBS prepare for Post-Graduate Entrance exams to be MD or MS. It is one of the toughest exams in the country because few seats are available. 2. Some do housestaffship in any department, as well as prepare for the same Entrance exam mentioned above.3. Some join govt.service in govt.hospitals or health department. Average income after doing MBBS is in between 40000-80000, depending on how much duty hours they spend.

College Events

3

Fresher's Utsav (Cultural programme before Durga Puja each year) College Fest (Zephyr/Riverie) IPGMER Film Festival, Saraswati PujaIftaar Party Cricket, Football, TT, Chess, Badminton competition.Etc

Fee Structure And Facilities

Current free structure : 5500 Rs per semester. 1000 rupees Caution money taken during admission. University exam fees - 600 per subject. (As per WBUHS rate).

Fees and Financial Aid

A lot of scholarships are available for students from poor financial background, from govt.and private organizations. Details are made available to students from the Dean office and also from the student community we have.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facilities are good but not upto the mark. There is a crisis for hostel accommodation especially for 1st year students. The good news is: The hospital authority has taken steps and new hostel buildings are being built. They will be complete & open

Alumni/Alumna

It was a Post-Graduate college. MBBS course started in 2004. No organized Alumni association is made. But efforts are being given in this matter, to organize an Alumni network. During college Fest, many seniors are invited in our own effort. We all have our own favourite seniors. They are also friends and family.

Faculty

4

Good. Most of the departments are helpful. HODs of some departments are strict, you may not like them at first, but they are very helpful during the university exams(profs). The most amazing thing in IPGMER is- as it is a part of a super-speciality hospit

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.
