Great college, the curriculum is the best thing about the college. College understabds the requirements of the industry and caters to it. It feels like school with higher work load than most other colleges in the country. There are multiple coding/hands on assignment every week, and the examination pattern is also very good.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is the best thing about the college. It is updated every year. Most colleges in India dont come close to the courses offered by PES university. The courses are very well designed and are very hands on. Courses cater to the industry needs and courses like Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Deep Learning etc are offered.
Placement Experience
Placements are on par with most IITs and NITs. Till now over 100 companies have visited college, over 500 students have job offers above 8 lpa. Highest offer was 49 lpa by Atlassian. Most tier 1 companies had come to college, to list a few, Couchbase, Thoughtspot, Akamai, Cisco, Walmart, Samsung, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs etc. yes placements are also provided. Stipend depends on the company, ranging from 15k per month to 70k per month.
College Events
The events are conducted throughh out the year. Aatmatrisha is the largest fest in the college. It is a national level fest. Artists like Vishal-Shekhar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Amit Trivedi etc have performed.
Fee Structure And Facilities
40% of the admissions happen through CET, those seats cost only 40k per year, while the remaining admissions happen through PESSAT and these seats cost 3lakh per year. Including the cost of living, it is a fairly expensive university.
Fees and Financial Aid
Every semester top 20% people in the batch based on SGPA are refunded 25% of their fees. This is given every sem and is of huge financial help to the students, considering the high fees.And because the fees is high, the scholarship amount is also quite high.
Campus Life
All labs are well equipped, especially in the Computer Science department. There are multiple clubs for all kinds of techincal and non technical activities. The college and the students are very tolerant to diversity.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel costs are 1.2lakh per year. Rooms are great. It is 2/3 sharing with attached bathroom and all amenities. Internet is not good though. There are PGs all aroud the college. Rent ranges from 4k per month excluding food to 10k per month including food.
Alumni/Alumna
There is minimal interaction between seniors and juniors. Most seniors are helpful but are not very reachable. Also, due to this there is no ragging whatsoever. The alumni have gone to accomplish multiple feats in the corporate, for the companies they work.
Admission
PESSAT exam is conducted. Counseling happens on the basis of marks in PESSAT. Exam is conducted all over India usually in the month of May-June. Counselling happens in July. Classes start in August. The level of difficulty of the exam is Medium-High. It is similar to BITSAT and almost as difficult as JEE-MAINS.
Faculty
The faculty is usually very qualified. Though a lot of newer faculty have been recruited who are not the most knowledgeable. A lot of faculty have previously worked in the industry and are very interested in the subject.
