One of the best University in India.

Jadavpur University is one of the best institute in India. According to NIRF ranking it ranked 6th in University, 14th in Engineering and 13th in overall catagory. Quality of education and research activities are good but the infrastructure need to be improved. Daily cleaning work is much needed. Also need to improve the security.

I am from the Civil engineering background. This course allow students from Civil, Biotechnology, Chemical and other relevant engineering background. This course deals with various environmental problems and issues and try to solve them in a better engineered way. Ongoing research activities on Arsenic, Fluoride and other pollutants on ground water, Waste water treatment, Air pollution in urban and industrial zones.

Placement are very good in few departments only. But those are mostly on IT or banking industry. Core jobs are also available in mechanical or electrical department. And average pay is quite good. Microsoft, google, visa, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, HSBC, Adobe, Unilever, Relience, Tata, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz, Hitachi, Bharat Petroleum, Royal Enfield, OPAL, Amec Foster Wheeler, CESC are few recruiters.

Cultural Fest is called Sanskriti, and the technical fest is called Srijan. Sanskriti held once in a year and its a 4 day long festival. Students from our university and other universities also participate in this event. Everyday in the evening there is a performance from a renowned artists. Sanskriti is organised in the main campus and Srijan in saltlake campus.

I don't know much about other faculties. But in Engineering faculty the per semester fee is only Rs 2400/-. This is the cheapest institute in India to study engineering. As it is a Public Institute the fees are very less as compared to other private as well as NITS.

Scholarship are provided to the Gate qualified Post Graduate students. Amount is RS. 12400/- per month. This scholarship is funded by MHRD. There are other lots of scholarships and financial aid are provided to the meritorious and needy students.

Students are also involved in various other activities like sports drama recitation song etc. Annual sports held in the University main ground. Students are mostly from West Bengal. But there are also students from neighbouring states and countries.

Hostel are very old but there are few new hostel for boys and girls. 9 boys hostel and 4 girls hostel. But finding a hostel seat is very difficult due to shortage of rooms. Rates are very less. Distance from home and financial condition of student are important for getting hostel seat. Average PG rental are vary from 2500 to 5000 according to the location and size of the room. There are exclusive Hostel foe research scholars.

Alumni base is very strong and they are present all over the World. Many of them hold prestigious position in various companies, Government, Ministries and faculties in well recognised Universities and Institutions. Each department held alumni meet every year.

There are various other departments so you have to chose the courses and make a preference list. And have to give admission test in every course you want admission. admission test was organised. After that a merit list was prepared. According to that admission was done. Scholarship provide if Valid Gate Score card submitted.

Faculties are very qualified and well known in the society. They provide best education and encourage us on research activities. Also provide information about their ongoing research project and try to involve us in that as much as possible.
