Remarks

The college management recently was not so supportive of students and students freedom. The management is not as responsive to our requests as it was before. Also unnecessarily getting strict where it wasn't even required. Some new rules and regulations w

Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE 2011 and got a 20k rank choosed NIT Durgapur as it was near to the place i live and was getting with my rank. I choosed CSE as i love computer programming.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum was as it is being in any other central engineering college you will start from basic from 2nd semester to advance data structure which is very useful for companies.

Internships Opportunities

I never applied for internship, i preferred staying at home and study, also there are online free source projects you can contribute and learn a lot.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements for my branch was really good, we have all the top companies. Amazon, Microsoft, Snapdeal, C Dot, Oracle, Directi, Dhrishti Soft, Novell, Polaris Fintech, NRI Fintech, Sapient Nitro etc are some of high paying companies for service sector there was TCS and IBM the placement percentage was really good for core branches the placement was good.

College Events

5

College fests are one of the best part of NIT Durgapur, there are fest for everybody, ranging from literature to coding to just pure fun and dance. Fests are organised organised all year long. From Mukti to Aarohan and the Ecstacy, these fest are really popular and many colleges from eastern part of India participates in these.Ecstacy is the cultural fest and you will always find polular singers and entertainer entertaining you. These fests will be the best part of college and you surely will miss them. For math nerds, there is specially a fest for that, what engineering without maths.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As its a old campus, even some hostels are old and not maintained properly but the newer hostels are really good and you will have no problems girls hostels are always maintained and i never heard any girl complaining about hostels. The food, although healthy is not that tasty. I never got sick eating that food for four years but the same repeated dishes will make you hate them. There are small canteens and jhoops, so you will never have problem if you are a foodie.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are available to people who are either from poor family or have really high cgpa loans are readily available from banks. I never availed any loans or scholarships but my friends have there is no delay regarding scholarships.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is one of the best you could have. Gender ratio is not so good at NITs, its 7:1 for boys to girls, if you are in Mechanical then forget girls. CSE and ECE have nice ratio regarding girls. As its a central college you will get people from all over India here. There are well funded groups here in this colleges who organize events all year around. Dance(Dance and Music Club), music, quiz ( quizINC the most active group), gaming, coding, robotics (Robotics Club), debates(youth parliament), Acting (nukad natak group), you name it and its there. If not you can form your own group and if its reasonable, college will fund it.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni Network is really good, you can see that from our placements, students gets off campus jobs through reference with help of Alumni, There is Alumni meeting every year and also a whole website dedicated to it so we keep in touch. Seniors are very friendly and helpful, the full story you will know after joining college only ;) But you surely will have fun.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is helpful if approached. Some of them are really good and will inspire you to learn.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin
