Remarks

Over all NIT Jalandhar is a great place to study and get succeed in you career but on other hand you also have to strive for your needs and services. Most of the time you'll not get what you need but thats life.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

In college we have 6-8 subjects each semester and 3 exams for each subject there are 2 minorswhich is of 20 marks and 1 major which is of 50 marks. rest marks is of VIVA and practicals. most of my course was based on coding So if you want to go for CSE then get a good hold on programming languages.

Placement Experience

4.5

Our college is really good in placements and internships. I did my internship at IIRS-ISRO, Dehradun in Analysing satellite images using JAVA. I'm currently placed at Capgemini Pvt Ltd. Each year placements stats are increasing.

College Events

4.5

We have 2 events in our college TechNiti and Utkansh. TechNiti is more about technology event were there are different competition like RoboWars, mouse trap LAN Gaming etc. With some music and all. Utkansh is more like a cultural event with large budget which will invite these singers and students also perform their talents and skills.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For General Category it is 45000 rs per semester and 25000 is for hostel fees and I have heard it is increasing each year. Most of friends would get scholarships which would cover their tution fees and bank loan is also an option.

Fees and Financial Aid

Thers is no scholarship that I know that our college provide. There were these state scholarships which would cover your tution fees and sometimes also provide you laptops. And then there were these NGO scholarships. These scholarships were given to BPL students, students who had reservation and minorities.

Campus Life

4.5

Labs were fine, most of items were usable, but if resource is not there, it'll never be there. There were really talented students in our college for sports. I myself was in basketball team, but for tournaments we have to literally bag to the officials for funding. We used to get 2-3 tournaments in a year.

Hostel Facilities

4

We have many hostels at our college but best was Mega Boys Hostel. It has great mess and spacious room in which one student could accommodate from final year. Second year and First year students have to share rooms. Toilets and bathroom were OK.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes we do have alumni network and there is also alumni meet which is held each year. This is all handled by current students of our college. There is a FB page for NITJ Alumni and our college keep record of each student passed from our college which is accessible to current students for events and other purposes.

Admission

You have to qualify Joint Entrance Examination Mains and then you'll get a rank, which will decide your college and branch that you want to pursue. JEE MAINS EXAMINATION is of 360 marks and you have to be on top tier to get into this college.

Faculty

3

We have been taught from M.Tech graduates to PhD holders. Faculty will only instruct and guide you with your course. All of the learning you have to do by yourself. M.Tech faculty is more exposed to new technologies than senior faculties, but according to new rule faculties can only permanent if they are M.Tech graduate or PhD holder.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
