I had an amazing time at SMIT. Not only I learnt physics but also built my character. My professors were always there to help me and go beyond their call of duty.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course covers all major areas of physics as well as provides specialization in Plasma physics and electronic physics. The teachers are not only well versed in the subjects they teach but also have an enthusiasm for teaching that brings the morale of students to a higher place.
Placement Experience
Many companies come to campus with job offers that students get after competing in written exams and in-person interviews.
College Events
Kaalrav is a musical and cultural event that happens every February/March and is an amazing time. Moreover, many sports such as cricket, badminton, football, tennis as well as table tennis are encouraged and competitions are also held. There is also a swimming pool.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is flexible and not expensive at all. In fact, it is pretty cheap when one thinks of how great a chance they are getting - studying under some of the brightest minds of eastern India. Moreover, this course opens so many doors for a better future.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan. My parents funded my education and my savings also helped.
Campus Life
Students have a great variety of ways they can get involved on campus. There are many clubs that they can become a member of and learn team-work and leadership skills. The gender ratio is half male and half females. Students are treated fairly without any bias.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is a great place to learn how to live in the real world. The infrastructure is great with the supply of hot water during the winters. It is a great environment to make friends and learn from your peers. Each room is on double sharing basis in the boy's hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is very strong and offers students to be mentored by successful people who passed out of SMIT.
Admission
I attended their admission drive on campus and was selected. I wanted to pursue higher studies in Physics so I enrolled in their master's program. I think it was a great decision because I am now studying in the United States of America at the University of California, Merced for a PhD in Physics.
Faculty
The faculty are very supportive and actively engaged in the learning of their students. They are very smart and masters of their subjects. Moreover, the master's thesis requirement also provides students with a good opportunity to do research. Many of my friends also did their research thesis from national labs.
