Remarks

College management is mostly good but the facilities provided need much improvement, no transparency is maintained about the money being spend. But on the whole its a nice place to build your engineering career.

Entrance Preview

I took the OJEE exam in 2011, and got a rank of 1492. I opted for this college as it was soon going to be a deemed university and was supposed to be at par of other IIIT's in India. Currently it is a deemed university and it takes students from the centralized exam.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is good. Though we did not have many options during our time, currently a lot of electives are being offered and more focus is being given to projects and research work, an entire semester with no other subjects except complete focus on project.

Internships Opportunities

Till date only Dell has provided internship, but that was to the batch after us. It was probably paid but I am not aware of the exact stipend amount. Us and the previous pass-outs, we generally had to approach companies ourselves to do internships.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement opportunities were not that good for our seniors but slowly it has been improving a lot. We have had companies like Snapdeal- 15 lpa, Dell-5lpa, Infosys-3. 25lpa, IBM-3. 15lpa, ibexi-4. 2lpa, ITC-3 lpa, Capgemini-3lpa, Tech mahindra-2. 8lpa, Amdocs has its test center in iiit bbsr, elitmus exam is also held in iiit bbsr, mind tree has also made it to iiit bbsr in the running year.

College Events

3

We have one annual techno-cult fest called Advaita which is held around March. It is a big event where colleges from all over the country are invited to participate in various events. On the last of the fest we have celeb night where some renowned singer is invited to perform. We have had Mohammad Irfan, Divya Kumar and Sunburn performances in our campus till date. Apart from that we have various intra events which keep happening throughout the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The annual fee for us was around 1. 5lakh. I found it a little expensive as we did not have much facilities back then. Also it was just an up and coming Institute back then. However a lot of improvements have come up since then so I guess with time the fee structure can be considered to be ok.

Fees and Financial Aid

IIIT BBSR is linked with Andhra Bank which provides study loans, scholarships like TWF is provided to students whose parents annual income is less than 2 LPA but limited students only get this scholarship. The topper of each branch is awarded 20000 per semester.

Campus Life

2.5

The gender ratio is pretty even. Most of the students are hindus, iiit bbsr is a very cool environment for both the genders, every one is entitled to same opportunities. the awesomeness of this institute is it has no specific uniform system unlike all the other colleges in the state. Politics will come into play when societies formation takes place.

Hostel Facilities

3

To be honest, hostel facilities were bad. No matter how many times we complained, the hostel authorities never really did much about it. The ratio of washing machines and aquaguard filters to the number of students was really less and we really faced a lo

Alumni/Alumna

No alumni network as of now, though a specific tab is there for it in the online erp system HIBISCUS. But u can contact any senior or college staff through the official FB page of iiit bbsr.

Exam Structure

Exams and labs were strict and well balanced out giving us good enough time for preparation. 2 unit tests were conducted before the final semester exam. Labs were conducted every week and the exams were conducted a month before the semesters. Currently th

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
