Jadavpur University from the eyes of a student

There are always room for improvement so for Jadavpur University the best possible remark would be to maintain the standard as now and try to improve the standard to become the best University of India.

The course i.e. Masters in Chemical Engineering is very extensive giving a indepth knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspect the subject. The 2 year course is divided into 4 semesters where 6 papers and 4 papers are taught in the first 2 semesters respectively and in the final year a project work related to the field of chemical engineering is performed for the thesis submission at the end of the course.

Placement scenario is very good at my University where almost 95% students gets placed getting a package of minimum 5LPA and maximum of 20LPA. Various companies including software and core comes for placements. University provides internship opportunities (both paid and unpaid) for undergraduate students.

University celebrates her technical fest in the month of January and cultural fest in the month of June. Sports fest is conducted in the month of October. Freshers is also conducted in the month of August. Every department of the university also celebrates her Alumni meet every year and my department i.e Chemical Engineering celebrates Alumni meet aka Chembrige every year in the month of March.

The fee structure is nominal be the honest. In our Masters course we have to pay a semester fee of ?2400 and during admission a admission fee of ?100 along with library fee and development fee of total ?50.

In our Masters course we get the GATE scholarship of ?12400 every month. Along with that there are various schemes and scholarship of state government and Jadavpur University for needy and deserving students.

Jadavpur University is very rich in her extracurricular activities. Conferences or talks of various knowledgeable persons are held every three days to give the students a exposure of real world. Various sports event are held every month in our campus ground at Jadavpur and the university has a cricket ground at her Salt Lake campus. All the labs and Central facilities are furnished and well equipped with modern instruments which are necessary to carry out research work.

Alumni network is very strong and because of them the placement scenario of our department is very good. They share their work experience which helps to groom a budding chemical engineer and also helps to bring companies for placements. In order to maintain the connection between seniors and juniors, the grandeur 3 day alumni meet is held every year where all the current and previous students of the university work hand in hand to make the event successful.

I got admission at Jadavpur University by clearing Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering in the year 2018. The admission takes place via a online portal where the applicants have to submit all the relevant details along with GATE rank on the basis of which the candidates are selected. More than one round of admission are conducted if any seat is vacant. Jadavpur University also conducts a examination for those who are not able to clear GATE and provide admission to them only if any seats are vacant after admission of students whi cleared GATE.

The chemical engineering department of Jadavpur University is one of the enriched department with hugely talented and knowledgeable faculties having a extensive knowledge in all the fields of chemical engineering. Research work varies from hard core topics of chemical engineering to new innovative research works in order to protect the environment and ecosystem.
