Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum according to me is very flexible and easy-going. There are six subjects and 2 labs for the third semester. The first two semesters are common for all. Core subjects are introduced in the second year i.e. the start of third semester. The exams are mainly done on E-pads now hence it has pretty subtle way of using electronic devices and reducing the use of plastic. The chances of any malpractices is also minimised in such a case. Also, one doesn’t need any extra stationary tools since every tool from pencil to compass in already embedded in the E-pads they give.
Placement Experience
I haven’t experienced any internship or volunteering work. But many companies like Amazon, Microsoft etc. The institute has a well-organized placement team headed by the Associate Director (Industrial Liaison, Placements & Practice School), two Assistant Directors and also comprising of faculty and student coordinators from each department. On an average, over 160 recruiting teams visit MIT Manipal for UG & PG campus placements & internship recruitment every year.
College Events
Events celebrated are, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Kannada Rajyotsav. People who cannot go back to their home during short vacation of Ganesh Chaturthi has got their own closely related group of students celebrating Ganesh chaturthi that worship Ganesh idol for 1 and a half day. Diwali is also celebrated where students wear traditional clothes and light up the lanterns
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is pretty high. This include fees for course and the mess food along with hostel accommodation. Though for localites it’s only the course fees to be worried of, but for others it’s everything. They made mess food compulsory since last year and hence fees structure seems very expensive.
Fees and Financial Aid
There’s a 10% discount for the students whose mother tongue is Konkani. Candidates who have secured within the first 100 ranks in BTech merit list in MUOET are offered 100 % freeship. Few seats are reserved for students who have studied their two years (11th & 12th) of PUC for undergraduate courses and students who have studied their three years of degree course (all years / semesters) for post graduates courses in the any of the Academy of General Education (AGE) / Dr. TMA Pai Foundation colleges.
Campus Life
Labs are pretty fun in case of Biotechnology. Even from my friends who are in different branches, I heard the labs facility are pretty worth the money. They all are air conditioned and every lab is highly sanitised in terms of any health related issues. All the sports activities at Manipal Academy of Higher Education are conducted under the supervision of the University Sports Council headed by the Pro Chancellor as the Chairperson and Vice Chancellor as the Vice Chairperson of the council. The Deputy Registrar is the Secretary and the Registrar, Director (Student Affairs), Director (General Services), Director (Finance), Director (Projects) and all the Heads of constituent institutes and Directors of Physical Education are the members of this council. Any Manipal Academy of Higher Education student can avail any of the above facilities as per his/her convenience. All Manipal Academy of Higher Education institutes have access to these facilities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are pretty good. I’d give 9/10. Unlike other hostels of other instituitions where living conditions are worse. Most of the hostels are in close proximity to the college and half of them being Air conditioned rooms. There’s proper 24*7 facility of hot and cold water for bathing, drinking water supply, night canteen inside the hostel for late night snacks. The hostel also has 60GB free ion Wifi per month.
Alumni/Alumna
I haven’t contacted to any of the Alumnus yet, but I heard that big personalities like Satya Nadela, Rajeev suri, Mirza Faizan have been a part of this college. Some seniors also have got their own facebook groups where they guide every new and passing members of the college to their final desitination.
Admission
I had given the Entrance test(MUOET) from there ranks were announced and cutoffs for each branch was finalised. I got in biotech because the rank cutoff was around 25k and my rank was around 10k. From there onwards they had kept a specific day belonging to a specific range of students starting from 1-1000,1001-2000 and so on, on each day. The admission was based on rank basis and the admission process was in Jaipur, sikkim and as well as in Manipal. They had pretty easy and simple way of admission process with people guiding around everything. From entrance to exit.
Faculty
The faculty is very friendly and heart warming. They’ve been helping us in every way possible. Especially, the faculty of Biotechnology. They make sure that everyone’s doubts and issues are sorted out and none’s request is ignored.
