Remarks

Education is a bit expensive in BITS as compared to IITs and NITs but is worth every penny. There is a lot we can learn in this college. BITS doesn't just impart academic knowledge but provides overall development to fellow student. It stands true to its motto - Innovate Achieve Lead

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course subjects are spread over 4 years for a B.E degree and 5 years for an MSc. + B.E dual degree. The curriculum is based on credits system. The courses are split into three categories, namely - Core Disciplinary courses, Disciplinary Electives, Open Electives and Humanity Electives. The students are required to clear all their Core Disciplinary courses and a minimum no. Of electives to be eligible for graduation. The students are free to choose electives of their choice from a wide variety offered by the college. Due to flexible timetable, the student can finish all their courses within 3 years (B.E degree) and can graduate early. The curriculum also includes two internship opportunities - Practice School 1 (Summer after their 4th semester) and Practice school 2 (Either the 7th or 8th semester) where they can gather some work experience. BITS also offers Minor degrees in various fields like Finance, Material Science , Public Policy etc. The Exam Structure mainly consists of two parts - Mid Semester Examination and Comprehensive Examination. Along with these two components, there could also be quizzes and assignments, depending on the courses. The weightage of each component is at the discretion of the Instructor-in- charge of the course. The Cumulative Grade points is calculated using the weighted average of the grade points in each course (The weights being the no.of credits alloted to that course). The course curriculum is pretty flexible and beneficial to students. The students can take up various courses of their choice which can actually help them switch careers in future. For example, a Mechanical student could do Finance courses and can work in Finance companies. Also, due to the zero attendance policy( applicable for all courses) , the students are free to audit courses of their choice and gain some extra knowledge. On the whole, the curriculum is flexible for a student to decide whether he/she wants to work in the industry or pursue research or or even apply for Administrative Services

Placement Experience

5

The placements in BITS is amazing. The median packages in every department is on par with IITs. Each of the BITS campuses has placement success rate of over 91% with Hyderabad campus in the lead at 94.5%. Students have job opportunities in almost every field, ranging from Core sector to IT sector to Non Tech and Finance. The institute offers two official internship opportunities (Practice School 1 and Practice School 2) which are graded. On top of that, it also offers on campus summer internship opportunities and off campus summer internship opportunities. Most of the internships provide stipend (except Practice School 1, where stipend depends on the organisation you intern at).

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is expensive compared to Government Funded Institutes, but is on par with other reputed private colleges in India. The tution fees are relatively high but the accommodation and mess charges are cheaper than other colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

Student loan is available from SBI at a reasonable interest rate. There are two types of scholarships - Merit Scholarship and Merit-cum-Need Scholarship. Students who are in the top 10% of their batch are eligible for Merit Scholarship (upto 100% off tution fees). Students with family income less than 10LPA and CGPA above 6 are eligible for MCN scholarship, but this scholarship is offered only for genuine cases.

Campus Life

4.5

Our campus has state of art laboratories. There's a sports activity centre which houses most of the indoor sports. There's a hockey field, football ground, two tennis courts and two basketball courts and a cricket ground, on campus.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel is compulsory for all students. The hostels are comfortable with 24x7 power and water supply, LAN connection in all rooms and WiFi in common areas. There are two types of hostels - Single room (Senior boys hostels and all girls hostels) and double rooms (Junior boys hostels). There are two common dinning halls. Dining hall 1 is in between the boys hostels while Dining hall 2 is in between the girls hostels.

Alumni/Alumna

The BITSIAN alumni network is one of the biggest networks in the world. We have amazing alumni in almost every industry. The alumni are ready to help a fellow BITSIAN in need. With friendly BITSIANs all over the world, life is a bit easier when a fellow BITSIAN travels to new places.

Admission

I had written BITSAT in 2016. Students are required to apply for the branches of their choice in the campuses of their choice, from the B.E and MSc. programmes listed out on the website. The students are sorted out according to the BITSAT score and then the administration assigns the student the branch based on its priority in the student's list and no. Of seats available in that branch in a particular campus. This happens repeatedly over 5 to 6 iterations until all the seats are filled. Based on the score of the last student in each branch, in each campus, the cut-offs are determined for each branch in each campus.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty in this college is amongst the best in the country. The faculty is rotated amongst the four campuses every few years (Pilani, Hyderabad, Goa and Dubai). The professors are eminent academicians with in depth knowledge about the field they are in. The professors are friendly and do help students in pursuing a career of their choice.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like that the course doesn't feel outdated. Along with the regular subjects we spend a lot of time on coding, projects, and problem solving so it feels connected to what companies actually expect. As a second year student i already feel like i am building skills that i will be able to use during internships and placements and not just preparing for semester exams

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

The placements are comparatively more in this college, as there is more industry exposure. Students are eligible for placements from around 3-2 (3rd yr-II sem) to 4-2 (4th yr- II sem). Companies like Amazon, Cognizant, NCR often visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 1.2 cr (International offer). Around 90% students who were eligible got placement. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree.

Placement cell is least active.. Few good companies like Infosys, amazon, TCS etc visited but the average package is of 1-2 LPA and only 25-30% of students whose all exams are cleared can sit in the placement cell. The highest package is of 8LPA. My plan is to move abroad for higher studies.. The students after completion of 6th sem can sit in placement cell

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
