Remarks

I am pursuing my doctorate from the IIHR. I wanted to join after my masters, and eventually got into the Horticultural department. I have to admit it wasn’t my first choice, but I am appreciating and enjoying all the research work we are doing here. The faculty and amenities provided are good.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure was quite flexible and dynamic. In our institute we constantly strive towards improving the crop quality of enhanced quality of life quality, which was my biggest motivator amidst the hectic schedule of my PhD. Along with the course subjects, we have to study some non-credit subjects as well.

College Events

3.5

The postgraduate school motivates the students to participate in extracurricular activities such as sports, and different fundraiser activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is no direct fee for the post graduate program from the IARI.

Fees and Financial Aid

IARI offer the grant to the students who had not availed the same scholarship before. The IARI grant also include grant for books, chemicals, equipment, etc.

Campus Life

4

Campus life in the post graduate school of IIHR is pretty awesome. You can get all the grassroot facilities right within the Institute campus. We also get to interact with students from different departments, creating a rich environment of mutual learning. We also had many field trips to the other regional stations of IARI, which was a fun part between the tedious research schedule.

Admission

The entrance exam is organised by the IARI and it consists of three parts. Part I consists of the General Agriculture while Part II and Part III vary depending upon your subject preference. The competition for entrance exam is quite stiff itself, as candidates from various disciplines and various parts of the country appear for the exam. Weightage is also given to the overall academic performance of the candidate.

Faculty

4

The faculty in the IIHR department was highly qualified. They all hold doctorates in their respective fields. Not only that most of them are still actively publishing many research papers, which should be credible enough to tell you their level of involvement with the field.

Placement Experience:

Actually individual department will be in contact with one or the other company for the conduct of research work. So by one or the other way we can easily get in to the company if the college is not bringing campuses for students.

Remarks:

The 160 hectares of irrigated land is a perfect simulation for experimenting and researching the techniques for enhancing the field and horticultural crop quality. I did my post-graduation in Post Harvest Technology from the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), which is a sister concern of the IARI. It is the best research institute for agricultural research.
