IIHR is one of its kind, dedicated to studies in horticulture, microbiology, floriculture, biotechnology, soil sciences, and other allied fields. It has tie ups with many national and international institutions that help us in understanding problems and finding innovative solutions.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum has the desired flexibility of a PhD program. There are regular discussions, presentations, seminars, and workshops. I also write research articles based on my research and practical work.
Placement Experience
The university does not engage in career development program as such. There are regular vacancies within and outside the department and we are all going to apply for them, while a select few join the corporate world.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Obviously fee structure is not applicable to us research scholars, instead the institute pays us fellowships per month for a given period of time, according to seniority, performance appraisal, and the government's policy.
Campus Life
The laboratory is regularly updated with the latest sophisticated equipment and testing capacity. Every division has laboratory curated to suit its particular needs, and a library which researchers have full access to. There are no prejudices on personal grounds and plenty of workshops with other institutes to ensure maximum exposure.
Admission
The admission process is mainly managed by ICAR - the Indian Council for Agricultural Research. It conducts a written exam, and after I qualified I had to appear for a personal interview. After clearing the interview, my admission was confirmed.
Faculty
The faculty is among the best researchers and experts in horticulture and applied fields. They are helpful, and the best intellectual minds I have ever met. I draw constant support and inspiration from them.
