IIHR PhD program is a three-year-long program. Minimum eligibility for getting admission is a postgraduate degree in Plant Pathology.

IIHR Bangalore PhD Eligibility Criteria

  • To get admission the minimum eligibility that needs to be fulfilled is that the candidate must have a master’s degree in Plant Pathology from a recognized college or university.
  • The candidate must be working as an assistant professor or above level or scientist in ICAR.
  • A general category candidate must have 60% in their master’s degree and an SC/ST category student must have 55% marks in their master’s degree.
  • The minimum age to get admission is 21 years.
  • Admission to this program is totally based on marks obtained in the Entrance Exam (conducted by the college) followed by an interview.
  • Previous education also holds 10% weightage during their selection process.
  • 80% weightage is given to students on the basis of marks obtained in an entrance test. The minimum marks required for getting selected for an interview is 50% for general category students and 45% for SC/ST students.
  • Those who clear the above criteria have to give an interview for admission.

Entrance Exam Details

The Entrance Examination will have one question paper with three distinct parts. The questions will be of multiple choice and matching types in parts I & II (30 marks and 150 marks, respectively) and short analytical type in part III (30 marks). 

  • Answers for parts I & II are to be given on computerized OMR answer sheets and that of part III in the space provided for the purpose in the question paper. 
  • Negative marking to the extent of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer will be applicable in the case of parts I and II of the questions of the paper.

The fee structure was not at all expensive. I just paid 8850 per year (1000 rupees for application fee in the first year) Other than that all other expenses were funded by the government of India. Schlorships was available by ICAR.

The course is 3 years long and has fees taken annually. First year is Rs.8,850 including the security deposits and the next two years are Rs 5,590. The fees is totally feasible considering the exposure given by the university. The flexible curriculum and enviroments gives opportunity to students for better exposure and skill development.
