Remarks

The college had both positive and negative remarks. On one hand it had good educational background and good faculty members. On the other hand the hostel facilities were not good, extra ciricular activities were absent, the college did not have good placement cell. So, overall it was a mixed bag of reactions and experience in the college life.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was old and was not updated from years. The same matter was made to study over the years to the students of the department. The exam structure was divided into 6 semesters. Each semester has two examinations each i. e. Pre and Final. And each semester ends the exams were conducted and the students were allowed to continue to the next semester. If a student fails in a particular subject then he or she has to give supplementary exam for the said subject. But the exam result process was slow and students had to wait long for their results.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college at our time did not had much placement and job opportunities. The internships opportunities were also not good. There was lack of communication between the companies and the placement cell of the college. Most of the students who even got the job, got it in the IT companies irrespective of the branch they studied. They didn't got their core branch in which they completed their degree. But nowadays it has improved a lot, as more and more companies are coming for campus selection and students are getting more opportunities than before.

College Events

2.5

The events celebrated in the college campus includes both entertainment and educational events. There were events where students from different colleges were even invited to take part and prizes were given along with certificates to the winners. The event included different types of games, robotic events, etc. On the other hand events where dance, fun and entertainment were also organised by the students committee where all the students take part in organising the events and arranging the shows and calling different artists from music band to dance group.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was simple and feasible as it was under the state government when we took the admission. The fees has to be submitted in the bank and the college would deduct it from the students account. It was based on semester basis. Additionally the examination fees and other fees needed to be submitted separately. But as now it has become a central university the fee structure has gone high and it has become expensive now. It is not feasible as it was before. But there are various scholarships also available for the students which can be availed for those, who cannot afford it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offered scholarships facilities for the students who were unable to bear the fees. The scholarship were also given by state government to the students based on their financial status, then to those belonging to the reservation caste based students. The student need to fill the form and get it approved by the HOD of their respective departments and then forward it to the finance department of the college where further steps were taken to arrange scholarship for the students. But now as it is a central university many more scholarships schemes are there which the students can avail.

Campus Life

3

The college did not much extra curricular activities like sports day and all. But it has lab facilities for the respective departments, where students performed experiments and were allotted marks and even exams were conducted which would reflect in their mark sheets. There were no sports related events, which was a big disadvantage for the students as students need physical fitness as well as mental fitness for their progressive growth.

Hostel Facilities

3

I didn't opt for hostel facility, but I visited the hostel many times to my friends room. As per the hostel infrastructure in concerned, it is a very old building and is being renovated everytime. The hostel structure consists of halls for senior students where they were allocated separate rooms and hostel for junior students where four students were allocated in a single room. The hostel was not maintained properly, the rooms were dirty, toilets not cleaned and cleanliness was not maintained overall properly. The food prepared was still good and service was also fair. But overall experience was not good.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network and senior students were not as helpful as they should be. Most of the time we even didn't get the time to meet the seniors in the campus. The alumni network did not have a separate section where the students could contact them if needed, be it for help in studies or any other help.

Admission

I got the admission in the college through the state government entrance exam conducted for admissions in engineering colleges i. e. WBJEE. The exam was conducted offline and after the results were announced then there was online counselling process for the students to take part in admission process and fill their choice of preferences and get their preferred college according to the rank they got in the merit list.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty members of the college were helpful in nature. They used to help students during the class hours and even after class hours. There were some faculty members who used to teach students even in their rooms when the class used to be off for some reasons. The assistant faculty members present in the labs were also helpful and they used to help us in our assignments and lab experiments.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin
