Remarks

The college management is excellent including the principal indu shahani. I am pretty sure none of the students in the college would have anything bad to say for her. The overall environment in this college is based on the principal of providing the best

Entrance Preview

I entered this college after passing s.s.c with 80% score. In my time above 79% we had walkin admissions so my admission was done within an hours time. What made me choose this college in particular is that it was and still is one of the best colleges for commerce in mumbai.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course curriculum was the same as university curriculum as i had chosen to do b.com. from here. We had french and maths as an option in h.s.c. apart from this it was as per the university curriculum starting.

Internships Opportunities

I hadnt done internship from college as i pursued further studies from niit after B.com.However,the general stipend offer for passouts in 2005 was around rs.10,000 per month.

Placement Experience

3

As i mentioned earlier i am not very sure of the placements and job opportunities part as i pursued further studies after B.com from niit. However, the general stipend offer for passouts in 2005 was around rs.10,000 per month.

College Events

5

Blaze is a finance festival organised by h.r. college. Held mostly in the month of february.Students from colleges all over mumbai come together for two days This is to discuss the current trends in the corporate industry where you need to know the ins and outs of the economy.H.r. college has its own cultural fest held once a year in summer as well however it is not on a large scale as kiran festival of k.c. college or fests held by other colleges.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is reasonable if you have a good score however, if you do not score well then be ready to shell out a big amount to get in but years 2000 to 2005 fees were approximately rs.5000 to 10000 a year to get in if you scored well. However there were students who shelled out 1 lakh a year too and got in who hadnt scored that well.

Fees and Financial Aid

If a person scored well he/she would have to pay the regular fees in college which were quite reasonable during that time (approximately around rs 5000 a year).I am not sure of scholarships or loan facilities offered by this college.

Campus Life

5

H.r. college has a pretty good campus in terms of space . Also it has a very good canteen which offer very good quality food of different choices.I personally used to be in the campus around 12 hours a day whether or not i attended any lectures they also have a very good library which is fully airconditioned & has all possible books in it related to study, sports, science, fiction. The had some or the other events going on around the year which would be held in the campus like chess competition, table tennis and so on.The gender ratio i would say was 50-50 & students belonged to different religions & economic status. The overall culture was very open, free & fun filled.

Hostel Facilities

5

There is no hostel for h.r. college. However they have a very good canteen with a large variety of food which is all very delicious.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are pretty friendly and there has not been a single case of ragging i guess at least between 2000 -2005 when i was there. if you plan to join a college after s.s.c and wish to pursue commerce then this is definitly the college for you.

Exam Structure

There were 2 exams a year in all 3 years for B.com.So it was not very hectic. overall the environment is very chilled out and there is no undue pressure on the students. This is something which make this college unique in a good way.

Faculty

5

Faculty was extremely unique .They didnt just focus on studies but personal development as well of students. There was no undue pressure on us from their end as they had created a very free, fun and interactive environment for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

One of the key aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the B.Com course at Sydenham College was its strong foundation in core commerce subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, and Finance. The structured progression from basic to advanced concepts, along with exposure to subjects like taxation and auditing, made the program particularly appealing for students aiming for careers in finance, CA, CS, or management.

De Shaw, and Bain Capital are among the biggest companies and lighter companies are also many. Visa and all are also there which are rare otherwise. For b.com though 30-40k is what is offered but I feel it's fair enough.

Placements society of college is just a decade old and still top companies like Zues Capital, Barclays, and Icici bank are among the top colleges that have become a part of ecosystem where 30-40 students is what each companies hires every year. Not many though as too many sections and 500+ students means getting placed even half the students can be a task where Mithibai placement percentage is 60 odd percentage.

Placement Experience:

Impeccable, amazing and unbelievable are the placements here. For B.Com which is as always a crowded college, making sure 60-70% students have placements through campus is a task not less than climbing everest. So definitely all I can say is our college has done so well that it is now the first choice college for commerce not just among Mumbaikars but overall as well.
