Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was very interesting. As Journalism students we spend most of our times on the fields, like conducting interviews, making videos for our youtube page, managing our social media pages, shooting in the media lab. Everything was taught to us, editing, adobe photoshop, adobe illustrator, camera handling, video camera handling, etc. It was 2 years of course with four semesters and three internal assessment before every semester. That makes 4-semester exams and 12 internal assessment. Out of three, they consider the best of two exam marks.
Placement Experience
REVA promises 100% placement ASSISTANCE. It doesn't promise 100% placement. To be honest, our batch had a pretty bad experience with the placement cell. Our names were not registered to the placement cell. Teachers were quite helpful though, our faculty did help us with a few contacts for the internships and later, for jobs.
College Events
REVAMP is one of the popular events of REVA. Apart from REVAMP, every department some or the other event going on, almost everyday. Our department celebrated Radio day and any other event related to media.
Fee Structure And Facilities
MA in Journalism was feasible. It was 55k per year, that makes it 1,50,000 annually. You have to pay 30k in the beginning as the seat blocking amount and you can pay the rest once the college starts. Again, fees are different for all the departments. Some are feasible but few courses are expensive.
Fees and Financial Aid
No idea about the scholarship or loan facility. But students can always visit the website or go over to the admission block to inquire about such things. As every college offers such benefits, pretty sure even REVA has such options.
Campus Life
REVA was good with its extracurricular activities. Every year, every department celebrated sports day. Our media lab was new but had enough equipments and tools essential for a media student. We had a studio, radio station, computers with updated softwares, cameras and video cameras.
Hostel Facilities
I didn't opt for the hostel, but a few of my friends who stayed there never complained about the food or infrastructure. Though hostel timings are kinda strict, students are supposed to get inside the premised before 8-8:30.
Admission
I applied online and then went for the interview. The admission department asked a few basic questions and reviewed my previous marks and qualification. As the MA in Journalism and mass communication was a newly introduced course, faculty were not as strict with the admission process.
Faculty
Journalism faculty was pretty cool and understanding. Teachers weren't that strict and never pressured students and tried to make learning as fun as possible. But if the department hires more experienced faculty it will change a lot of things. Overall, the faculty was quite good.
