Doing a BBA from DTU has its perks and drawbacks. The best part is the annual fest, Engifest, which is huge and really brings life to the campus. However, the campus itself is quite small, and the library has limited resources. The internship process has changed recently; now we have to find internships ourselves in the 5th semester, which can be stressful. About 30-35% of my classmates got placed during campus placements, with the highest package being 13.5 LPA. The average is about 6 LPA, which isn't bad. The fees are quite high for a government college at around 3,00,000, and they keep increasing. If you love business and can navigate the challenges, DTU could be worth it.
I’m currently pursuing BBA at DTU, and I can say it’s a mixed bag. The curriculum is interesting, especially since I've been into business studies since 11th grade. But the faculty situation is a bit tricky. The teacher-student ratio is decent at around 1:20, but many of the teachers are guest lecturers. The permanent ones are good, especially those with PhDs. Exams happen every 1.5 months, which can be a bit overwhelming. The placements are decent, with around 30-35% of us getting placed through the college. Companies like PWC and Deloitte come for recruitment, so it does have potential. Just be prepared for a hefty fee of around 3,00,000, which increases yearly. Overall, if you're passionate about business, DTU can be a good choice, but do your research!
I think DTU has recently launched their BBA program. Considering it's primarily an engineering college, it might not be the best choice if you have the option to pursue BCom Hons from SBSC.
Honestly, if you have other options, consider them. I don’t understand why students choose DTU for BBA. It's known for its Science programs, which is why the name DTU is associated with BBA, but it’s not a good choice.
Here’s what I’ve experienced as a DTU student:
For example, I had an issue with registration. I emailed them, but they replied after four days with a nonsensical response. Then they just kept saying, “Contact us on this date or that date,” without actually solving my problem.
When it got too late, I went to the campus for help. Instead of providing a solution, they blamed me, asking, “Were you asleep these many days? Where were you?” By then, the deadline had passed, and they said, “We can’t do anything now.”
Their only suggestion was to visit the main campus, where the faculty would tell you, “We don’t know anything about the east campus. We’ve provided faculty to the east campus, so go there.”
It’s just a waste of time.
