What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

At our institute, we are currently introducing several cutting-edge programs designed to empower our students and distinguish them in the competitive landscape. We are offering programs in Computer Science (CSC), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), Data Science, and Cybersecurity. Additionally, we have recently transformed the Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) program into the Computer Science (CSC) program. This strategic move has resulted in a substantial increase in our intake capacity, growing from 240 to 420 students this year.


What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt for?

Our program stands out as an excellent choice for students due to several key factors. One significant aspect is our commitment to providing world-class laboratories. We are in the process of establishing an Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) laboratory, enhancing the experiential learning opportunities for our students. Additionally, we have successfully set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) center, further emphasizing our dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to provide students with hands-on practical experience, complementing the theoretical knowledge gained in traditional classroom settings. By fostering a learning environment that integrates both theoretical teachings and practical applications, we ensure that our students are well-equipped with the skills and insights needed to excel in their chosen field.


What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

In our course, we believe in implementing the best practices to ensure comprehensive learning and industry readiness. Beyond traditional classroom instruction, we incorporate boot camp programs to provide students with practical exposure and foster connections with the industry. These boot camps, often spanning 72 hours or more, serve as intensive sessions where industry professionals are invited to share their expertise. Additionally, we organize extended training programs lasting 15 or 30 days, led by seasoned professionals from the industry. This approach goes beyond conventional teaching methods, ensuring that our students benefit from a diverse range of insights and practical experiences, both from our esteemed faculty and industry experts.


How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

In ensuring the effective delivery of our program, we prioritize faculty training to maintain high educational standards. We allocate dedicated time for preparatory classes before the actual program begins. To kickstart this process, we conduct Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) focusing on various technologies. Moreover, we actively encourage our faculty to participate in external training programs and workshops. This includes sending faculty members outside the college, allowing them to explore and stay abreast of the latest developments in their respective fields. As an example, our Head of Computer Science (CS) and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) recently visited Australia and collaborated with universities, enriching their knowledge and bringing valuable insights back to our institution.

How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program? 

To foster a strong industry connection with our program, we have established the Industry Institute Interface Cell (IIIC) dedicated to facilitating and enhancing this relationship. The IIIC consistently organizes various initiatives such as workshops, Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), and student development programs, ensuring regular engagement with industry professionals. We place significant emphasis on incorporating faculty members with extensive industry experience. Several of our faculty members have substantial careers in the industry before joining academia. By bringing in these seasoned professionals, we provide our students with valuable practical insights alongside theoretical knowledge. This strategic approach ensures that our students benefit from a well-rounded education that aligns with industry requirements, further strengthening our ties with the professional sector.


What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

While implementing this program into our curriculum, one of the primary challenges we encountered was the establishment of laboratories. Building and setting up these facilities posed a significant undertaking, but it was an integral part of the overall program establishment. Despite the complexity of this task, we successfully navigated through the challenges, and in retrospect, there were no major obstacles that hindered the process.


What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

In our program, students engage in a diverse range of projects that align with the dynamic nature of the field. These projects are carefully designed to provide hands-on experience and practical application of the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom. Students may work on projects related to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and other cutting-edge technologies. The projects often span various domains, addressing real-world challenges and opportunities. This approach allows students to develop a well-rounded skill set and fosters creativity and innovation. Additionally, our emphasis on industry collaboration ensures that some projects involve working closely with professionals, providing students with valuable insights and exposure to real-world scenarios.

After completing the course, students have access to a dedicated Career and Opportunities Development Cell that plays a pivotal role in guiding them towards suitable career paths. The first step involves understanding the student's interests and aspirations, whether they aim for a job in the industry, aspire to become entrepreneurs, or pursue further studies, particularly a Master's (Ms). Our Career Development Center is structured to address these varied aspirations, bifurcating into three key categories. For students inclined towards placements, we organize training sessions facilitated by industry experts to enhance their employability and assist them in securing suitable jobs. For those considering pursuing a Master's degree, we host educational fairs focused on studying abroad. These events provide valuable insights on universities, courses, and guide students in making informed decisions about their academic pursuits and career paths.
